Now all we need is the source so that community developers can either learn from it or develop CG into their own game

sorry, but by me this thing totally sux donkey balls -_-'

You are happy blablabla... "Good game"... This is just a test of "3D" graphics here, because I can't call that a game... It is just a piece of crap, if we would look at Soldat.

MM, stop developing that shit and take care of your REAL game - Soldat. Read suggestions site etc. and add something cool to it.

This thing was a waste of your time... Now, people, think what could be done in the time of development... We might have missed at least some of these ideas...

You did realise that he stopped developing Crimson Glory, and that this was just a preview release to "proove" that he indeed was working on it (and in no way intended to be functional), didn't you? Seriously, if he had wanted to he could've made this game awesome, I see a lot of potential in it imho...

Anyway god job Michal, you gave some developers a great place to start from with this game... hope someone can make it into something great. That is when the source code comes out you greedy bastard!

I think that the work put on the plane its great, it looks fine.

That's why I don't like preview releases, cause they aren't much fun for the casual player. I always release the game only when there is some gameplay involved, unless I'm ending the project of course.
This release should be very interesting if you want to see how the new engine works. There is a lot of cool stuff hidden from the eye, like scripting and editing.

I had to disable the sound driver, I was getting 3 FPS when it was on.
Yeah.. the engine is nice, scripting capabilities are very good too, but as it looks.. the game is on a VERY early stage.

How do you load the other levels? I have read through all documentation, and I don't see anywhere where it says how to load the maps.

ok not to be rude... but all this game is is a big rock and white water with a plane that barely can get up from the water... i see no enemies, the menu is fucked up and i cant do anything else than fly around an island... it probably will be good if this is just a test to show the games graphics and how its built up... so if u can make it a "game" it would be great.... but the way it is on my computer, its crap... :/ sorry to disappoint u..

It's incomplete, and he isn't working on it any more. Unless you want to learn the coding, scripting and everything, and complete it yourself when (if) the source is released, feel free, but until then, be glad that you got anything at all.

How hard can it be to understand.. He will not continue working on CG, thats why he released it, se those who wanted could see what he had made.. We all knew he was working on it.
Hope the source gets released.

I think it looks great :) Good work MM.

My hat off to EH for the very sexy download page.  The rest of the website he was working on for CG looked just like that, except bigger and much ... extremely nice.

I 2nd

I guess I never realized that it was going to be a 3D side scroller. I really like the feel of it and its a shame you don't want to continue it. On the other hand its understandable, your fan base does like ms paint a little too much.
So I propose some sort of compromise. How about layering the scenery, foreground, mid-foreground, player depth, mid-background, and background. The player would only interact with the player level objects but the rest would move at their respective speeds as you walk.

I agree. Adding a 3D aspect to your games destroys the general style of your creations. I believe the concept of Crimson Glory is great and should definitely be a part of your next project, I just hope it's 2D.

Good luck with everything.

Do you people even read anything at all in the thread before posting in it? That's two people now who have completely missed the point of this release. He had not really come close at all to releasing a fully playable of CG, so he decided to put this out to prove that he was in fact working on it. Also, just to show what stuff he had put into it, and I assume the source is coming later.

Damn you people to hell, learn to read.

After all this waiting, and anticipation for the game...

For one thing, this game doesnt work on my computer at all, its just completely not working right. i cant even see the plane!!

anywho, that was really a wait for nothing. After all that, it just turns out MM doesnt wanna do it anymore.

Im sad, i really thought this could of been something. This is why i want to learn programming, so i could make this game go platnum.

O well, thanks for nothing (or w.e that is) and i hope you keep on improving soldat.

* DarkNoddy needs to blow off some steam.

When I read posts like some of those in this thread, I get rather pissed off to be honest.
Making games or programming fairly advanced things, is a process that takes alot of time. And if you find out, hey, this isnt something that I really want to do anymore, then people should respect that, ie. if you really hate a sport, how would you feel if someone started whining if you didnt practice to get better at it everyday? (not a superb example but you get the picture)

Dont get me wrong, I would like to see CG completed, but I have done some programming and such myself and I know how sad it is, after wasting a fuckloads of hours or even days on making something, for someone, absolutely free, in your own spare time, and all you get is whine if there is a minor flaw etc. So I know how shitty it makes you feel.

I think what CG is at this stage is very nice, hopefully he will release the source at a later point so someone else can perhaps complete the game.

Be glad he even wanted to share this with us. (he said himself he normally doesnt release games before they atleast have some form of gameplay)

One last thing: I'm not saying there is anything wrong with saying one is disaponted that the game is abondoned, but one can say it in other ways then "OMG! This is shit"

Well in response to the last thing you said DN, most people who bitch about the game sucking are not talking about being unhappy that it isn't going to be finished.  They're whining because they don't realize that it is an abandoned project and he's juts sharing with us what has been completed

I know (unfortunately), rereading my post I realize that it seems as if I was talking about people whining about it not beeing completed, while I actually meant both those who whined about it not beeing finished in a not apropriate way and most of all those basterds who just dled without reading what the release was and started bitching.

That's exactly what the game features. If you haven't read it yet:

You need to be aware that this release is of the unfinished Crimson Glory, and he will not be finishing it.

Well I for one am actually rather pleased with it overall. Sure it's not the greatest game in the world, but the simple things it does allow you to do, it does very well. Especially when you can have 10 plane dogfights and do nose-dive barrel rolls.

... no, it's a sandbox environment, ish, where you just fly around. It's a preview release that won't be finished; please keep that in mind.

Damn, I wanted to say that.
Well yeah, it's a manly game, you have to grow a beard to play it. Maybe that's why it doesn't work for everybody?

So is your next game going to be a sausage fest too?

There aren't any women soldiers in Soldat ;D *hint hint*

Anyhow, to take some of the flak, the "Fly like a man" slogan was something I came up with while making the original website concepts.

There is nothing to see really. You just fly a plane and shoot. Is it fun? For the first 10 seconds yes.. Then I removed whole CG. ;s

What about that random sonic animation? I think it was in test3.
