9999 Ping...
« on: June 30, 2007, 03:05:20 pm »
Honestly, I don't know what the problem is.  I've been fiddling with the Port Forwarding on my router, and I have three open ports: 23073 UCP ; 23073 TCP ; 23083 TCP.  Alright, I can set up the dedicated server, it shows up on the lobby, it registers with ASE.  I have a laptop also hooked up downstairs that I've been using to try and connect to and test it.  Ping shows up 9999.  I also came back to this computer to load up another instance of Soldat and look it up there, and same thing, 9999.  Also forgot to mention, when I try to get into the server, it sticks on Requesting game... so I can't get into it.

Some additional information:
Soldat 1.4.1
Dedicated 2.6.1b
Internal IP: 192.168.2.3 (all of my open ports are set to it)

Also I used that server checker and all but the admin test pass.  Don't know what's going on, and I'd appreciate the help.

I had pretty much the same situation.
When i refresh lobby, i see my server at ping 9999 or dont see it at all.
But it shows up in lan lobby.

I have ticked "never forward clients" aka "Dont_Forward=1" in .ini.

But ppl can join and it works. I can connect only through lan but thats not an issue.

Some isps block ports and such, chances are that your isp is blocking the soldat port.
My isp did that, I talked to them and have all ports opend now \o/

I'll have a couple of friends try and join it.  If you're interested, its called "Dedicated Rambo".  And as the title states, its a rambomatch.  I think rambomatches are really underrated since there aren't too many servers.

Oh and hey I forgot to mention.  Using those admin tools, you know, ARSSE or whatever.  I can't connect using it.  I type in the server IP, the port, but it always comes up with a failed connection thing.

STARLING NEW EVIDENCE!
Alright I can see it on the lobby on this computer, but the laptop still is showing 9999.  Maybe its because thats wireless and this one isn't.  Or maybe its because I'm just running the server here.  I don't know, just tell me if the ping shows up 9999 for you too.

EVEN NEWER EVIDENCE
Alright last chunk I hope.  I sent out some bots and started trying to kill them.  Then the ping went back up to 9999 on this computer.  Maybe my connection just sucks.

Try turning off all of the port forwarding you set up, I'll bet that is what is causing everything to be 9999 and probably preventing you from joining games as well ;)

The reason is this:
- many home routers do port forwarding HORRIBLY and break stuff, because all of your outgoing traffic to certain ports gets sent back to you
- you might have messed up how you set up the port forwarding

the eC tests are only for if you're trying to run a server from home.  you don't need to forward any ports to play Soldat

I think he is actually trying to setup a dedicated server from home.
