F11. The grenade should explode, but the victim must stay unharmed. I would want to see the shooter go boom all over the screen as punishment for his n00biness.

yes i agree bcause im an amateur modder and i decided to create an m79 that blew up in a n00b's face.

seriously messd up my games cuz the grenades went through the floor and on Airpirates, you know that sux   :o
Just because you say you're good doesn't mean I will hesitate to blow your face out your ass.

M79 already has a start-up, just a short one. Besides, grenade launchers don't get "charged". Click, boom...BOOM. That's really all there is to it.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

So the m79 can shoot across an entire map? You can also follow the m79 bullet across said map to see every player along the map?

Try to follow the sarcasm here.

Barrett was given a startup time because it was such a killer weapon, it has the range no other weapon can touch and repeated fire made unloading a clip on some random autoers an easy and extremely annoying task.. which is one reason people hated kampf before the delay. M79 has the worst range range except for Spas. It also has enough time on the reload for an auto/ruger/spas to kill the m79er and then some. People just like to run straight into m79er and then cry about dieing... Course if people just thought: "Hey... I know that running straight into a m79er I have a high chance of dieing... maybe I should do something other then running full speed in a straight line" its not like you would dot he same thing to a barrett user...

I reckon the M79 Grenade round should more dmg the more Airtime. Also, you know when you see rain falling from righ to left, and you see a big splash heading left? I reckon splash dmg should be like that. For example Shooting -> Slph Dmg ->. Not <^>

Just leave the M79 alone. Just because you idiots get owned by n00bs, why do we have to change the whole game.

That's the point, asshole. We're changing it because it's too easy to get kills with.

As far as I am concerned, the M79 should remain unchanged. Its not that big of a nuisance, every game has a beginner weapon. Its one of the only remaining weapons that give the game its fast-paced feeling(come to think of it, its the only true fast paced weapon left), adding a charge time to it would just make Soldat pathetic and slow and nothing but a spray fest. Soldat is all about arcade style fast paced action, not camping in a bush with an M79 waiting for it to charge.

I like this idea, it's something new. I guess the real M79 works also like this, it arms after a distance.
We should test it. It should work like this - if you shoot somebody within a thumb distance the bullet doesn't explode but makes say 50% damage to the player. It doesn't go through, it just works like a bullet.

Good idea, but the bullet charge/arm time should be really short, otherwise M79 jumps won't be possible. IMO it should be long enough to make M79 jumps harder, but short enough to make them possible.

Or if the uncharged M79 bullets would bounce off polygons, like hand grenades, it would make M79 jumps even more tricky but still possible and the time of bullet arming could be longer.

I played Call of Duty 4 (awsome game) and even there the grenede luncher bullets have to "fly" for some time to arm...

I like it. It'll help stop those kamikazi rushes without making it weaker.

If this is changed to what was said, I wouldn't mind to much.  Though I would like to see a boost in the m79 to make up for not being able to kill at such close range.  I'm also concerned about m79 boosting, which I would be sad to see go.

Kamikaze kills and M79 boosting are two things that just shouldn't be there IMO. Especially the boosting, it belongs in the Sin Bin with its mate- the Minigun surf. And I don't think the M79 needs any buffing as a kind of buff compensation for the no kamikazing. The point of this change is to at least try and make the M79 more respectable.

Right, cause using a weapon that has a slow bullet, short range, long reload, 1 hit clip, and now a time before killing is respectable, and not stupid.

Everyone will that going close range to m79'rs like they do now, and the difference will be that they wont be killed.

You know that bullet is a bit more than .22 lead. And by respectable I mean using a weapon that requires skill.

Ah, it reminds me of that scene in 'The Hunt for Red October', where Sean Connery sails the submarine into the torpedo so that it hits before the detonator is activated.  ::)
