No, that's worse. We don't want people shooting an M79 at you while standing right next to you and not taking any damage.

tbh, i think all the m79 alk is ujst a bunch of whining

id accept the change to make it not explode at point blank and only until 2 bodylengths away for 3 reasons

a> it wouldnt affect the majority of the m79 users in the slightest
b> it would stop alot of people whining
c> it would be cool to be able to richochet m79 shots by shooting at your feet

Hey i came up with this before. Except my idea was that the grenade smacks into the guys guy and does 70% damage or so, not go on through for another kill. My idea was better.

No one wants to touch the m79. 209 threads about the m79 being overpowered isn't just a couple guys who like to whine. It's a constituency. Maybe i would be playing more these days if the m79 was changed. I guess that doesn't matter, i already payed my 9 bucks.

It would be unrealistic and unfair on those who aren't a noob, but uses the M79 anyway. My suggestion would be richocheting or something similair.

Hello Buddies,

I often use the m79 and I am so over with these annoying messages about being a noob or worse words.
I agree that it is in point blank easier to kill an enemy, but that doesn`t work with mid or long range.Nevertheless if you are killing point blank, mid or long range you are always named a noob.
The suggestions made here, it should explode with you when you try point blank kill is stupid.To be fair every weapon should kill its owner when trying point blank, isn`t it?
Why do the complaining soldiers not play on servers on which the m79 isn`t available, huh?
Or better, Soldat is a game for having fun and not a forum for whining people.The whiners should play something else.Like "The Sims" or some other little girl game.
Complain about m79 at michals address, he coded the game and was the creator of all weapons.Nobody would dare to do that, because it is dumb.
But to irritate players seems to be O.K. ?

I really think that complaining is noobish.

There are hardly any servers on which the M79 isn't enabled, and even then, who wants to search through dozens of servers just to find one that doesn't have the M79 on it? That's a weak debate point.

Plus, the reason why people are complaining are the people who get away with killing point-blank range - the M79 has self-damage, it just doesn't seem to affect the user as much as it should. Hey, it is a high-yield grenade after all.

Also, I play The Sims... I'm offended. And, there's actually a thread where Zero72 takes forum members' names, puts them into The Sims 2, and gives us updates with screenshots of their progress in the house.

If you get yourself killed by a "noob" with a "noob gun" then probably you deserve to die

i dont know why you all cry so much about this, is it so hard not to go running on the ground always?(or to take a kill...it wont take more than 11 seconds to respawn)

I think things are fair how they are... if you think about it logically..

I know that the hit bug annoys most people but it also ballances out the Barret, m79 and LAW

if the hit bug occurs when you use those weapons they are rendered useless on that shot... and there's always a chance it will happen unless you're playing on LAN...

But with automatic weapons which fire off more bullets, the hit bug is only going to prevent maybe 3 or 4 of those bullets from doing damage whereas the other 26 or so bullets are going to do damage...

the hit bug never really affects people unless they're using 1-hit kill weapons... sometimes ruger if they're unlucky.

Instead of making it hard with ranges that it should explode and not, there is a more simple suggestion...
How about a longer reload?
Or, better imo, delay. Hold the button to shoot longer range or hold the button to make it fire at all.

The idea of those ranges isn't bad, but i don't think MM will be prepared to make such a change.

A longer reload and delay time have been suggested, and both have been rejected.

longer fire time (like the barrett and LAW) = timing
and a slower speed of the bullet = less far shooting+you can avoid it easely

there is a DM server with a perfect M79weapon fix, 2sec to shoot (like in barrett it's3,law also) a slow bullet so you can avoid it faster.

I am very sorry if you are offended by me naming people little girls that play "The Sims".
In fact it is a little girls game...I didn`t mean that bad.
What I meant bad is the fact that there is too much whining in Soldat about this and that.
The chat shouldn`t be used to throw bad words at mates or enemies!It is for telling others team orientated orders or tips or something.
If you wanna discuss...here is the place and not the Soldat inGame chat.
The netiquette in this forum works almost in every case, but in Soldat chat hardly in one.
That`s the main problem I see for the Game chat.
The players give a shit about the netiquette.

Well, I don`t like to be killed by Ruger or Barret, but I will never complain about these weapons...cause they belong to the game.If I couldn`t take the kills by these weapons and I hate that sooooo much like some guys hate the m79 I would be man enough to go to another game.It is just very childish to whine, complain or throw bad bad words at other players just to make them go or irritate them.
That and cheating is the same thing....it disturbs the game in a very bad way.

No they hate it because they don't take the necessary steps to deal with it. The steps I'll outline have to do with CTF, because M79ers are at a major disadvantage in DM.
1. Keep your cursor far in front of you, so you don't blindly run into them.
2. Stay in the air. Stay higher than any incoming M79ers. (which you should see due to step 1)
3. No matter what you do, DON'T RUSH AT THEM. It's much better to back up and kill the M79er than to to respawn and still have to deal with him.
4. If the other team is using M79s heavily, use a longer range weapon like the AK-74 or Ruger.
5. If you have an auto, follow steps 1-3 and wait for him to fire. The shot is slow enough that you can generally avoid it. Once the shot is past you, rush in and finish him off.

And dodging is a fairly easy matter as well. Since you're in the air, just superman as soon as he fires. The shell, believe it or not, is SLOW.

My solution is to increase self damage at close range and make people lose points for suicide like they do in nearly every other game. If they hit you longer range, they generally deserve the kill. Its these suicide bombers that get me.

^ You interpreted his post as if he said "The M79 killed me one time, it needs to be nerfed". He's stating the fact at how much he sees kamikaze M79 users live. It's because the explosion damage is instant, but if you're just an inch away form the explosion when it occurs, then you live with most of your health.
