Direct x help?

Ok, i havnt played in months because my computer was on the fritz. Now its fixed as far as i can tell, but when i try to start Soldat, im stopped at the first screen by a promt that says;

Could not initialize direct x graphics, Directx 8 or better is needed.

What the crap? I Dl'd the newest version and i still get it. How do i get around this?

This is a very common issue with lots of possible problems causing it. If you use the search function you'll find a list of solutions.

Have you tried updating your video drivers (Not DirectX)? Many people seem to have this issue and this solution typically works for them.

This worked out for me. I had the same problem.
Select your card and download the drivers for it.

Dang. Thanks for the link, but ive got an Intel 82845 card and it isnt supperted there. Ive found the latest driver and downloaded it... but still no dice. It says it supports directx though.... I guess ill keep looking?

If you have vista, you're pretty much out of luck for the 82845 driver, since Intel only has a Windows XP version of the driver. Otherwise, getting an updated one from the Intel site will solve problems.
