Last week, I was talking to MM about Soldat and his other projects, as I often do. I asked him if he'd ever wanted a development blog, or somewhere to write about the progress of his projects and other related topics. He said it is something he had wanted quite badly for a while, but never had the time or means to pursue it.

Over the next few days, my good pal Elephant Hunter and I cooked up MM: What I Do, a place for MM to communicate extra information to the community about the development of his games and projects, and anything else he wants to write about.

Hopefully this will spark the interest of many of you, and I'm sure he has a lot to write about. Everyone here only hears from MM when something very good is happening (a new version), or something very bad is happening (a new version that breaks stuff). Now everyone should get to know our almighty developer better, as he has provided us all with hundreds or thousands of hours of entertainment.

This is great. I have always wanted to know more about Michal, but never thought he would have time for a blog.

His blog's wordpress skin looks pretty awesome. I'll definitely bookmark it and check it every few days.

The theme is Elephant Hunter's modified Windtalker Theme with MM logo, based on the original Windtalker theme by Eric Lee Weissbrich with additional tweaks by myself to get rid of some of the German labels that were in it.

It's nice to hear some new info on Michal's game. I'm very excited to hear that his game is going to have some kick ass 2-D graphics.

Interesting... MM i really like your view on gaming. We need something different... something origianl. CG was a good concept but a bit too similar to other games.

I say 2D is the way to go.

well those were some nice words indeed, modern gaming is all about violence, ppl getting raped etc
its lost its art indeed, try making a decent map for counterstrike takes your whole life lol....

i prefer 2d games with a fast and easy way to mod like soldat

same for the mapping...

its all about money and pre build libraries nowadays...

and this: In music: Beethoven, Debussy, Wagner, all interesting characters. I don’t have to mention pop music: Rolling Stones, David Bowie and all the other drug oriented groups.
Movies: just read the tabloids.
Painting: Michaelangelo, Picasso, van Gogh and many other freaks.

By the looks of things, his blog will be more for what he's thinking and doing. I mean, if he's thinking of doing Soldat 2, then he wouldn't be talking about the current Soldat, would he? lol.

He doesn't say he's making Soldat 2, he's saying that he originally started CG with the intention of maybe using the engine for Soldat 2.

It's not a stupid question but a engine in this casse is the code (in c++) that you do for your game like you can do a simple game with no engine. But to simplify all you do a code that will define all what you need for your game that you want to make like a map engine to change map etc.

It's maybe not clear sorry

Engine is what the Base of a game where all of the technical things are done:

for example, the famous GTA series has its engine (forgot the name) and it uses it for other games, like bully.

I like this blog idea really. Now we can now something more about MM ideas and he is able to share them with us.

I liked your Seamless servers idea. It's a good point for creating bigger maps for all games. There can be whole independent states of one big city&country with great speed. Also there is really unlimited number of players.

But you have to work hard to get that in one piece

Is your monitor calibrated correctly? I don't have any problems on my own monitor, but when I am at my mom's place, I can not read anything because the colors are not calibrated corercly, AND the monitor is OLD, and very dark. ;(

I have a very good monitor. The text is to small and the contrast is to small. I can read it, but it strains eyes unnecessarily.

I find the font too small also... but it's not a problem i can use zoom.
