Greatly increased attachment limits
« on: July 06, 2007, 09:33:26 pm »
I have increased the attachment limits:
  • 25MB per attachment
  • 25MB total attachments per post
  • Up to 25 attachments per post

I have done this because I want to encourage people to use attachments for things like images, maps, mods and everything else.  I don't want valuable community content to be lost because members chose to use free accounts on sites that delete the content after a week, 30 days, or a year.  Content hosted on the forums will be kept around as long as possible, which should be a very long time.  With the move to a new server coming soon,  we'll have over 100GB of space available, specifically for things like the forums.

Well this is great news. Thanks a whole bunch for doing this for us, Flab.

Wow, 25 megs. It was just 20-some K, wasn't it?

Edit: it was actually around 2000-some K.

Increasing the file size limits was a great idea. Did you also allow people who aren't logged in the ability to download forum attachments?

yep, I just fixed that not long ago.  If someone had told me about that, I would have fixed it sooner...
