I'm sorry, but that really isn't that great of a question, if he used hacks he wouldn't be posting here to figure out what's wrong.

But anyway, I just started having the exact same problem.  It started this morning too. It first starts off saying....

BattleEye Client: Failed to rename update file
BattleEye Client: update successfully completed. restarting...
BattleEye Client: initialized

It does that like 3 or so times, then it kicks me for my battle eye not responding.  I tried redownloading the battle eye thing yet the exact same thign happens.

I saw someone kicked for that reason today, but before he was, a hack he was using advertised itself. Do hacks stop the client from updating?

@lotus: What do you want to say by that?

How long does it take until you get kicked? And do you see any BattlEye messages during this time?

Date Posted: 10-07-2007, 19:18:16
@The Owls: How could he know this error is caused by hacks? In fact it can be.

Regarding your error, BE fails to rename the new file which should never happen actually. What are the contents of your BattlEye folder?

It's just got 1 file that says...

BECLIENT_X86.DLL.new

I was also told that there was something about the version, so the version.txt says...

lotus, what is your OS?

Owls, could you try to start e.g. Soldat, then tab out of the game and rename the .exe (not a shortcut ofc) to something else like Soldat1.exe? -> Does that work?

If I understand what your saying right, you want me to start a game of soldat, go into a game, and then f9 out.  Then change the name of the soldat.exe file to something like soldat1.exe?

Anyway, I just tried that, and it says

Cannot rename soldat: the specific file is being used by windows.

@lotus: You can yes.

You have 2 files of these? Impossible - check the file extensions (properties).
There should at least be a BEClient_x86.dll.new file if you get the same error as Owls.

Ummm, there's no file of that name in my system32 folder.  When I use my search it says that there is one of that name in my system folder.  But I'm not sure how to tell the version, when I try to run it, it asks for a program.

Alright deleted the version.txt file. Then I tried deleting a BEserver_86.dll file and when I got on a server it would automatically kick me out (no message) and told me I needed it to run soldat.

Before you said you deleted the BE Server file and now its the BE Client that is missing??

Owls, did you restrict the permission of your Soldat folders somehow (I dont think its possible on win98)? And where did you install it? Also, do you have all Windows updates?

I wouldn't have any clue how to do the first thing, so I doubt it.  As for the installation.  I installed the battle eye update straight from the soldat main website, then just ran the program.  That's all.  As for the updates, I'm pretty sure I have them all.

First time I got kicked, I think it I saw the purple message about 3 times, and was in anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes.  But I was a spectator.

So without reconnecting to the server you got 3 times all the 3 messages and then the kick for "Client not responding" - correct?

Allright, I just checked it.  I don't think I was right on my first message.  I got the purple message somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes into the game.  Then around 5 minutes in I get kicked.  I just clocked it.

____

Also in the short time that I am in servers, I'm seeing a lot of people getting kicked for the same reason by the battle eye.

Yeah that's my bad, that's just the normal kick.  I wasn't really paying attention to that so I figured that'd be what it is.

I usually play on u13/fractured/!elitectf servers most often.  But the servers in which I got kicked on to test it were just random servers I never play on which had battle eye on, so I wouldn't get a ban from those places.

But anyway, do you have any clue what's going on?

No, and actually I have never faced this problem in so many years.
The fact that you guys confuse me with your posts doesnt lead me to believing in such a problem either.

Also, there are not many (if any) people being kicked from full servers I play on, so I dont understand why you say that - you must be playing on servers full of cheaters then... :P

Alright, I'll go over everything for you right now.

When battleye was first introduced to soldat, and when the first patch came out, I had a tiny bit of trouble with it.  It was supposed to update normaly, but mine, along with many others didn't.  So I downloaded it from the website, and the problem was fixed.  Then this morning I think another update came out that was supposed to update automatically.

I didn't know about it so I went into a server and spectated for a little bit, I saw the purple message the first one which said

BattleEye Client: Failed to rename update file
BattleEye Client: update successfully completed. restarting...
BattleEye Client: initialized

I didn't think much of it, and after a little while longer I got kicked with this message.

SERVER BattlEye Server: war|The Owls : Failed to update
war|The Owls has been kicked for BattlEye Violation

And I did clock it like on the 3rd one.  It took around 1 to 2 minutes for the first message to pop up.  And almost at exactly 5 minutes I get kicked with the second message.

I've got every update I can find, and I'm 90% sure I don't have any viruses.  And right now I'm getting a bit pissed at the fact that I might not be able to play soldat anymore.  And I would post pictures, but I don't think those are really needed since I put down word for word what the server said.  I'm just looking for some help here.

OK i am also having this problem and i am also some what disappointed that you are basically saying it isn't working cause we cheat and its our fault. I dont hack or cheat and have had this happen in an empty server with no one but me sitting there waiting for a friend to join. The same message displays that owl has started at 2 to 3 minutes then i get kicked for the battleye violation around 5 to 6. And i also have to say i play a lot on u13 inf and ctf and about everyday i see one or two people getting kicked for battleye violations some being majors and some being random people or people i know dont hack or cheat. Hopefully this post is understandable and that this issue can be resolved soon.

I am not saying that you cheat, but it is very weird if statements change again and again creating a lot of confusion.

I am trying to verify if there is a problem with Windows 98.

I disagree, I mean here's 3 people right now that have all had the exact same problem.  I mean, the attitude that I'm feeling from you right now is that you think were lieing.  I mean, why would we lie about soldat not working, were here for solutions.

And I think that there is a problem with battleye when dealing with 98, that would explain everything.  I just hope there is a quick fix to it.

Anyway, its confirmed that there is a problem with renaming a file in use on Windows 98, will try to investigate this further.

Alright for those of you who were having trouble with the win98 mar77a told me how to fix it.

Here's what to do.

In your battleye folder in soldat you should have 3 files.  Delete the first file which should be called BEClient_x86.dll  (make sure it's not BEClient_x86.dll.new)  Then change the name of the second file, BEClient_x86.dll.new to just BEClient_x86.dll

It may be a bit confusing, but I'm sure someone will post a more orginized fix later.

I have exactly the same problem - never hack or cheat, Win98, and everything was working well by Monday.

Owls, your advise was quite clear but it didn't work for me - now after joining a serv the message displayed is - cannot open BEClient (.new file name). It's a little bigger than the previous one - perhaps that's the problem.

Honestly, I'm quite dissapointed since I have a registered version of Soldat & I play quite a lot, but now I'm f***** and a program I 'bought' is totaly useless!  >:( sorry for being a little harsh but god damn this really pisses me off.

Mr. Marcin perhaps could do something about it for a fellow countryman ??

I'll be keeping an eye on this forum, but you can e-mail me if you have any questions which may help in solving this issue.

I'M really really desperate - being kicked out and temporary banned each 8 min is more than a little annoying.

Hope you'll find a solution fast.

Cheers

Alright, from what your saying your problem is a bit different.  Check out a few things first.  First look in your BattlEye folder (in your main soldat folder) and post what files you see in there and their names.  Next I want you to find the text file version.txt, and post exactly what it says in there.

It may be that you never downloaded the actual BattlEye, if that's the case, get it from soldat's main website.

Hey, Sable.

I got a bad packet error in Soldat today (didn't get screenshot), about a minute before BattlEye updated. What does it mean by a bad packet?

Oh, and I had a mate who got kicked after his BattlEye got updated for "Client not responding". Is that normal?

You mean it kicked you a minute after BE updated right? And you talk about a BE kick? I guess something was corrupted inside your Soldat.exe there.

Well, he restarted Soldat, and everything was fine.

It just seemed odd that BattlEye wouldn't start up after being updated (I assume that's what happened, since the Client not responding error is due to the fact that BattlEye doesn't exist or is not talking).

As for me, I wasn't kicked by from the bad packet error, but I'm curious as to what it means.

Was it a BE message? I guess not, because otherwise it would have been a BE violation and thus a kick.

And BattlEye starts up fine after an update, so there is no problem with communication.

BE works fine. It updates and everything, the problem is always from client's side. And even if some people don't admit it and try to find excuses they just try to hack.

Way to be optimistic leo.  As battle eye, Sable, do you think you could make a topic somewhere declearing when a new patch for the BattlEye comes out, so us win98 users know when to manually update it?  Cause I got kicked mid way through a gather yesterday because of that.

No, I will not announce BE updates anywhere, sorry.
Also, it would not help you in the case you mentioned - if you are playing while I release an update, you will not notice it and still be kicked.

The upcoming Soldat 1.4.2 will fix it anyway, so it wont be long until it works for you too.

@SpiltCoffee: I still would like to know how that bad packet error was displayed on your screen. Was it a Soldat message (without BE prefix)?

I'm pretty sure it was a BattlEye error, because I remember cursing BattlEye after seeing the message. I didn't happen to get a screenshot of it, though.

Ah, ok then. Must have been just the server. I probably got confused, since so many people were getting kicked for not responding... lol.

this is f***** annoying. When I rename the .new file to dll, I'm being kicked right after joining a serv with a message BEClient_x86.dll couldnt be loaded (or smth like that). I think it's the issue of the file itself - it's size or wrong line addressing inside & it's connection with other file within Soldat. I've renamed the file twice - in Win & Dos just in case. Still the same ****.

Guys I hope you'll move your asses and fix this soon - someone had taken some cash from me for that program, so it has to work properly. Also - I think it'd be good to have versions of BE numbered.

Well that error is your own fault. You need to download the new BE update then rename that file...you either forgot to update or didn't do it correctly.

I have downloaded and unzipped & ran the last update from Soldat web site, then went playing, then got back again after being kicked out & renamed the .new file - now it says it cannot load it (like the name was wrong but I've copied it from the old file - so there's no f***** place for an error here) - I hope it's clear enough.

What is the file size?

And did you rename to BEClient_x86.dll, not BEClient_x86.dll.dll?

right - the size of the file made me think, and actually after being kicked it was 124kb or sometimes 0kb (??). So I've got the original file, lunched soldat and after the update attempt I've quit soldat & then renamed it (copied old file name, deleted it and pasted in the .new file name). Usually I was playing until being kicked out - bot somehow it seems to leave my file open/not completed  - that's why the file didnt have the correct size, and even after renaming it didn't work. Now it has the right size of 84kb - and it seem to work (YEY!!!  ;D)

Also it has to be said that the update from Soldat web site also adds another .new file and doesn't replace the old one, so deleting the Client file before running the update is necessary on Win98.

If anyone has the same problem with this - let me know if the above explanation wasnt clear enough.

Thanks for the interest in this issue lads
Ya danca' ! :D

You mean deleting the .dll right? Well, actually thats not needed because with the downloadable update you just overwrite the old .dll - a .new file will be created again when BE tries to auto-update ingame, so thats just normal.

I guess you just forgot to install the BE update from the Soldat website?

Luma,

the best thing to do is to get the BE update from the Soldat web site - check the size & creation date of the BEClient_x86.dll file  before you run it, because sometimes the downloaded BE update doesn't replace the Client file (in Battleye folder), but creates a .new file.

Run the BE update & check the size & dates of creation of the BEClient_x86.dll file again. If nothing has changed when compared to the details you had before you ran the update, then copy the name of BEClient_x86.dll file, delete this file and paste it's name in the name of BEClient_x86.dll.new file (simply removing ".new")

Now join a server. After you get the message from the server (in purple font) about some problems with renaming the BEClient file, wait a little (you'll be downloading BEClient_x86.dll.new file and it has to be around 84kb big. Quit the server when the file is downloaded - hit ALT+TAB to go to Win and check the file size few times (dont wait for being kicked because somehow it messed with my .new file) When it stopped "growing" and is arround 84kb,  quit soldat, and do exactly the same thing you've done before - rename BEClient_x86.dll.new file to BEClient_x86.dll.

Should be ok now - at least it worked for me (Win98)

Sable, I think that under Win98 the BE update doesn't replace the file - it adds the .new one, but renaming it does the trick.

Yea, thats what I said.

Btw, the downloadable update doesnt create a .new file when you install it, you must have mixed that up with a previous auto-update download...

On Win98, you just have to install that update, connect to a BE server, wait for BE to update (and fail the renaming), then quit the game and rename the .new file yourself.
