BattlEye Fix for Win98.
« on: July 10, 2007, 06:55:16 pm »
Since no seems to have posted this I have decided to in order to help some people out.  This may even work for other operating systems who are having similar problems.

If you are getting kicked/banned for errors along the lines of this while in game...

BattleEye Client: Failed to rename update file
BattleEye Client: update successfully completed. restarting...
BattleEye Client: initialized

*SERVER* BattlEye Server: Player : Failed to update
Player has been kicked for BattlEye Violation

...then this might help you.

Make sure you have downloaded the BattlEye from the soldat main page.  Then when you get it, extract it to your main soldat folder.  There should be an icon there that will install BattlEye.  If you've gotten the above for mentioned server messages you should have 3 files in your folder.  If not you need to go into an online BattlEye protected server and wait for it to give you at least the first server message above.  (though it'd be safe to go until it actually kicks you)  Once done open up the BattlEye folder and you should see 3 different files.

BEClient_x86.dll
BEClient_x86.dll.new
BEServer_x86.dll

First, delete the BEClient_x86.dll file (the first one) from your BattlEye folder.  Next rename the BEClient_x86.dll.new (the second file) to BEClient_x86.dll  (basically, you can take out the .new)  That right there should fix your BattlEye problem it did for me.  (Thanks goes out to mar77a)

_______
Edit:
Fore every new update to battle eye you will need to re-instal the battle eye patch you got from the soldat.pl website, and then follow the above procedure of going into a server, getting the server message of it updating.  Then deleting/renaming the specified files.  I know, it's a bit time consuming, but hopefully Sable will come up with a better solution soon.

Thanks for the post.

This will also be fixed in Soldat 1.4.2 (Soldat code changes).

I had only 2 in there the BEClient_x86.dll.new and BEClient_x86.dll so i deleted the BEClient_x86.dll and just deleted the .new and it works GJ and thanks to the solver of this problem.

After the kick there should be a .new file as well.

Otherwise search your hard drive for it...

I think it's after the first purple message you get, right before the kick.  Where battleye tries to update it.  But either way, I should put that in my first post.

It doesnt solve your problem...

Could you try to start Soldat.exe as administrator instead?

Yes, you mentioned something with a virtual folder - I guess all modified files from Soldat were saved there (maybe you can look there), including your config. You could take it from there and move it to your install folder - does the config work again when you check admin then?

You mean the screenshots are in the install folder now?

Could you try the BE update again then? Use the BE Client from the update zip released some time ago and join a BE Server.

So you only got:

BattlEye Client: Update successfully completed. Restarting...
BattlEye Client: Initialized

correct? If so, its all fine now. ;)

I am not sure, but it might have been a permission issue.

I installed mine in Program Files (XP), because I hate having programs installed just to my C:\ drive.
