That's not Hitler, it's big Brother from George Orwell's 1984. The resemblance that the artist created is just him using a Hitler-esque moustache to evoke hatred easily. For me, it's just a reminder that our freedoms that we have come to cherish in this country are being slowly stripped away, yet very few people are complaining about it. Privacy, the freedom to marry who we want, even the ability to smoke cigarettes where we want are all vanishing.

Meanwhile, the quote isn't emo, it's supposed to be inspirational. As in, do you really want that quote to be true, or do you want to appreciate life as much as you can? It's like that Mary Schmich article (and cheesy song by Baz Luhrmann) as a guide to live life without regret.

Finally, the avatar, while from an author that normally draws cute little animals, just reminds me of Oedipus -- a message that we should be careful not to poison those around us by being blind to our own horrific acts.

Although, most people who look at them and just see a way to make fun of emos.

Well, I figure ripping your eyes out of your face and having sex with your mother offer about the same level of satisfaction...or at least it would if you enjoyed sadomasochism.

As for the image, the artist probably just messed up shading the upper lip and decided to scribble in that whole area like "Yeah, I totally meant to make a Hitler stache."
