i was looking through the picture thread and i noticed that some guy in america with a pretty fine bunch of ladies is jumping of an 80-90 foot ledge into the water...
obviously hes alive because hes posting the pictures SO I ASK YOU

what is the highest distance i could fall into water to not get hurt?

Depends on how you handle the jump and of course the depth of the water. If you dive from 10 feet into 2 feet of water head first... well it might be easy to die. Write that down. However you can handle above 100ft I think as long as you dive right, but I just read someones website and it said it can be painful even if done correctly... legs together and arms by you side... heck you might be able to handle over 150ft but I don't think your legs could handle the force of impact, you legs might break... if you didn't catch my drift.

A 150-feet belly-flop dive can kill you. If it doesn't kill you, you suffer at least serveral internal bleeding of the organs and a few broken ribs.

Serious talk time:

The highest distance, I believe, isn't well documented.  Some people die from falling off the Golden State bridge (250 ft. or so) while others have survived falling out of airplanes (survived, mind you; I doubt it felt very good).  It all depends on how you handle the impact.

One of my friends was a stuntman for cheap 90's films and I asked him this same question a while ago (he was a wealth of information on these things -- actually did a dive stunt off of a waterfall once):

When falling into water, try your best to go in feet first with your hands either at your sides or above your head.  This minimizes the force of impact on your head while making sure you glide into the water instead of performing some grotesque body slap.

When you enter the water, immediately throw out your arms and legs to slow your body down; otherwise, it's possible to lose your breath and sink so low that you can't resurface in time.  Also be sure to clench your butt cheeks and blow air out your nose -- water will get in there and a high speed enema can kill you (honestly, this probably won't happen if you're cliff jumping, but who knows...).

Other than that, make sure you have plenty of room to fall into and some way to get out.

You'd die or suffer serious injury from a much lower height if it were custard. When custard is impacted it acts as a solid, which is why you can walk across a pool of custard .

You should get nose plugs so you don't get a high speed enema. also if you fall really high with your feet flat when you hit the water, the force can rip the first layer of skin off your feet. I've been told <_<
I think you should to a tippy toes stance when you are falling feet first, then when underwater, do what
Vijchti said, but also flap your arms, kick your feet to go up, and make sure your balls are still attached.

There was a special on Discovery about a guy who had jumped off a bridge with a parachute, but activated it too late. He severely damaged his intestines when he fell into the water and nearly died.
