EDIT: AND CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT THE **** HAPPENED TO THE HOT CHICKS THREAD?

IT'S A ****ING CONSPIRACY

****, I was looking for that thread today and I couldn't find it.

My guess is that FLAB posted porn and   had to lay down the law.

He could have atleast just deleted the post :(

Ontopic:

i was just wondering because i've been sailing on a tallship for a few days and was wondering how i'd go if i jumped into the water off the topgallant mast [33m up]

If you have little to none diving experience, I recommend you fall feet first instead of head first as there is a high possibility of you breaking your neck as of not getting your body completely straight.

If people can fall out of airplanes then they could fall from essentially any height, they reach their terminal velocity and just get in position to fall. Probably in salt water over fresh, because you float better in salt.

Really? Does this have to do with density?

yes, you displace less saltwater then freshwater.

There is a sport or hobby that a lot of people do. I forgot what its called but the people jump from like 60 feet to 80 feet. But they are trained athletes. Plus the world record id 115 ft. But no matter what it has to hurt.

Not quite.  The human body is slightly less dense than fresh water which, in turn, is slightly less dense than salt water.  Since anything of low density always floats above high density (this is why we don't have an atmosphere of water over oceans of air) and that buoyancy increases as the difference in density increases, humans float better in salt water than in fresh water.

I'm far from what you'd call an athlete but i jumped 90 feet and survived.  Most of my other friends jumped it too...

We used to jump from 3 diff cliffs which were 20 feet 50 feet and down stream was the 90 footer.  One of my friends got the bright idea to run over to the 50 foot while we were sitting on top of the 20 foot.  Any way he stripped down all his clothes and yelled "JESUS LOVES ME"... he did a backflip off it it but got scared halfway and somehow water shot strait up his arse lol truly one of the funniest things ive seen in all my life.

I was just saying that because it is more dense you float higher on the water, therefore displacing less.

you could go as far as saying a boat goes faster in salt water because of less drag on the hull because of less displacement because of salt water's higher density.

What do you think? lol  He screamed for a while but he mostly laughed it off.... needless to say he didnt backflip off of cliffs naked again lol.... on a side note that young man is currently in the Army serving his country lol.

That's just stating the question as the answer, though.  You're essentially saying that people are more buoyant in salt water because they're more buoyant in it.

whats the highest possible distance you could fall into water if you were doing a back/front flip and most likely wouldn't land correctly

Ok you guys i think there is a way you can jump from really high places. First put penut butter and jelly on your feet. Then put one slice of bread under your feet and one piece on top. Then you have have to smell your feet for about 2 minutes. Then when your about to jump you jump. When you hit the water, and get back up to the top, you take the soggy bread on your feet and eat it.

Regardless of your chances of survival, I wouldn't do it.  If a body slap hurts as much as it does at 20 ft., it's not going to feel much better at 80+ ft.

If you landed flat on your back from 90 feet and people were taking bets... I'd bet that you would die.  But if I somehow lost that bet and you lived, then i'd bet whatever i had left that you'd never walk again.

I'm not sure what a bomb dive is... if you were jumping from that far you'd not want to land any way but feet first.

80 or 90 feet i wouldnt try and do a flip... if you mess up to the slightest degree you risk permanent damage.  You hit the water really really freaking hard.

What's the least dense liquid that isn't toxic and won't kill me if I jumped into it from 90 feet?
