Custom headgear ~ Requests Taken! [newest addition: Boonie Hat]

I've been reading about some guys wanting an afro for their soldat.

It's easy to mod it for yourself, just do so:

TO GET AN AFRO:



Replace hair2 in the gosteks folder of Soldat with this:

(MAKE SURE TO NAME/RENAME IT hair2)

and replace hair22 in the gosteks folder of Soldat with this:

(AGAIN, RENAME IT hair22)

Now, choose hairstyle as punk w/ no helmet, and you have an afro!

SPARTAN HELMET



And because I wanted to, I made the Spartan helmet (for some reason, won't show up when on Bravo Team)

Replace helm in the gosteks folder of Soldat with this:

(Remember, rename the picture the original gostek name)

and replace helm2 in the gosteks folder of soldat with this:

(Remember, rename the picture the original gostek name)

Now set your headgear to Helmet, and you have a Spartan Helmet!

LONG HAIR



In an attempt to make your gostek slightly feminine, or just to get long hair, do so:

Replace dred in the gostek folder of Soldat with:


and replace hair1 in the gostek folder of Soldat with:


and replace hair12 in the gostek folder of Soldat with:


Set your hair to Dreadlocks w/ no helmet, and you have long hair!

Then set hair to Mr. T Style, and you have bunney ears!

haha okay guys ill work on bunny ears. I'm in a summer class right now and soldat isn't installed. When I get home, I'll make sure to work on it first thing.

lol i actually have for my friend, but i feel its not appropiate for this forum.

I want to keep the files their default format (bmp) just in case. I'll try a pilot helmet though, good idea. I'm at a class again so no soldat, but when I get home I'll get on it.

Soldat *will* read alpha-T PNG gostek files. Don't worry.

Its not showing up probably because you didn't put a copy of the thing into the Gosteks\Team2 folder.

Oh, ok that good to know about supporting PNG's. But how do you make semi transparent parts of an image?

Btw, thanks about the Team2 folder, it totally escaped me.

Use Adobe PS or the GIMP (I don't recommend Corel PSP) and start off with a transparent layer, then, draw on it with the pencil (recommended) or brush (if you're going for some fuzziness) with the opacity set to 30-40%, or select the area(s) you want Alpha-T'd, then use the eraser on it while set at 60-70%.

Things that taper off (like the spikes) are also an excellent place to take advantage of alpha-T. I advise blowing up the hair graphic to something like 100x100 and drawing it there, then resizing it down to 6x6 and erasing some of the junk in between that will be left behind by a bicubic resampling.

I was experimenting with like Goku hair last night, I'll work on this.

EDIT: I completed long spiky hair. Now working on shorter hair.

EDIT: Now short spiky complete.

The spiky hair didn't come out to be what I expected... I want it to look like spikes all in the back then a little spike dangling in the front over the face or something. If you could do that i would be most grateful.  (The ones you made already look nice anyway, but I wouldn't use them... )
