You know the United States spends almost as much money on it's military as every other country in the world put togethers? Taxpayers would not have to pay more money if the military budget is cut and some money is directed towards healthcare.

Taxpayers would not have to pay more if the military budget was directed towards ANYTHING.  No matter if you support the war or not, you have to admit that hundreds of billions of dollars are being spent on a cause that has produced little to no improvement over the course of several years, and has dropped our President's approval rating like a jet-powered anvil.  That argument is far too general to justify government-funded healthcare.

But it works.

even Cuba has free health care! the terrotrists being held at guantanamo bay get free health care! we as one of the richest western countries are the ONLY western counrty without socialized meidicine.
Free does not mean good.

Yes it does if you put enough money into it.
if we put money into it then it clearly isn't free.
The US Gov. needs to just break up corruption to fix the health system.

John Edwards even stated that for his health care system to work, it would increace taxes. I agree we need some sort of public health care system, but more for people below the poverty line that can't afford it, not universal health care that would force EVERYONE to have the same health care. Personally, I think there should be some sort of government funded clinic for health for people like welfare, except for health. Moore is just trying to find something Bush supports and disagree so he loses more ratings. We can't have universal health care like other countries, it would cost so much now that baby boomers are retiring and needing more surgeries and whatnot. I agree that some of our military budget is wasted on useless programs for todays battlefield, like the F34 (or whatever) and Landwarrior, but most of our budget is going to maintaining our current system and we can't have our military vehicles and other things falling into decrepitude, it just wouldn't be smart in the long run. That is the problem with universal health care; it lacks foresight and just looks good on paper. If Moore wants it so bad, he can just move to Canada.

With free health care you get longer waits and poor service. At least with our current system you can get that necessary surgery right now, even if you have to pay for it. I do believe there is a good number of people that come from countries with free health care to America to get the surgery done even though they pay for it. I heard that doctors from other countries come to America as well but I have nothing to back that up.

I would not call my health care as having poor service or long waits.  If something is necessary you can usually get it right away even.   Also its not just doctors that go to the USA its people from almost every field since you can make more money.
