Doodles

My Doodles

This is from a few years ago while I was in High School. I keep all of my old notebooks from school so I can look through them when I'm bored. Yesterday I went all-out with the scanner.

The drawings itself are on an 5th grade level(not trying to be mean) but the shading is surprisingly good.

I used to doodle alot in school. I can't draw for beans, but it was fun doing huge side-on fight scenes with little stickmen ;D

I tend to think in simple lines and shades, which is probably why I succeed at Illustrator more so than Photoshop. These doodles were all done in mechanical pencil between classes during my Junior and Senior years of HS. I don't keep the notebooks around for the quality of the drawings, but to remind myself of what I was thinking while drawing them.

I keep a collection of notebooks too, for that very same sentimental reasons and to study how my drawings had improved then.

The only distinct thing about my drawings is that the strokes of the mechanical pencil is back and forth, really quickly. A lot of indecisive lines, erased sooner or later in the final version. And my drawing speed.

On the cover of the school planner we have our mascot, a Cougar, so I drew lasers coming out of it's eyes and wrote "NEDM" at the top. probably the most childish thing i did all year.

Thanks for being so thoughtful :P

I am not claiming these are great pieces of art. They are doodles. Most people never keep their doodles, which makes mind trump theirs even if they are >5th grade quality.

I can't draw human figures for shit. Or any other living creature but I'm surprisingly good at making inanimate objects and my passion are medieval weapons. I wish I had a scanner, but I have a nice little diablo-ish axe with some heavy 3 hour shading. I used ordinary drawing soft drawing pencil. It is quite small but I think the shading is excellent.

ONTOPIC: these doodles are really cool. I like that style, but I couldn't draw something like that because I need my drawings to be full shaded and not with those sketchy lines. It's hard to make a drawing in that style to look good, not many people succed in that.
