Weather effects (read before posting)
« on: July 19, 2007, 04:36:49 am »
We only got A phew, but i seriously think some can change the game IMMENSLY in realism since thats what micheal wants. just hear me out mkay?

Possible Effect Ideas :

Flying Bullets, exlposions (could be used for high warfares)
Whirlwind (probebly not possible)
Lighting Bolts (at night could be so cool)
Snow (WW2 was hold in snow aswell also cool for x-mas periods)
Blood Rain (for horror maps)
Fog (fx effect moving true map can be use don clif, forest themed maps)
Leaf blows (some leafs flying by for in forrest maps)
Planes and cars in background (crazy idea but imaging the effect)
meteor strikes

-----------------------
Yes i know there are some crazy ones in there but
for every map theres something nature, space, snowy.
space based,forest
I don't understand
do you mean that there is a /faceplam commmand ?
and this command should drop a random item ?

Well meteor strike wouldn't make it i think, But some could be cool. (Using fog in some trenchwar maps?)
So i support this idea :>

This would require changes in file format, so I highly doubt this would get implemented, no matter how good it may sound.

Just use images in the map. Fog just needs to be a .png with an alpha channel. Snow is already in.

Well what about making it possible to have custom rain and such for your map, just making a .bmp file to replace the current one in soldat. The weather setting would be set to custom in map maker/polyworks...

I like idea of Lighting Bolts and Leaf blows. The second one won't be hard to make by MM. First one - why not. It would add some climat and won't change map format.

yes but everybody knows thats client sided and only works for urself

You have to spend some time to get something good, its a fairly low excuse to give us any proper updates then some bullet skins and some very small bug fixed sorry but this is a real change to the gameplay, and if changing the file structure adding 1-10 lines of codes and getting 1-10 effects in return i think its tottaly worth it

Just use images in the map. Fog just needs to be a .png with an alpha channel. Snow is already in.
moving fog like it moves over players starts at beginging of map and goes until the end of the map.

about the snow i mented frost

I liked the idea of having random bullets and explosions in the background. F12 even if it will never happen.

You can have snow on the ground, but as far as I know you can't have it falling. Maybe you can, but it is harder to make than clicking a button that says "snow"
Only thing is wouldn't it create lag?

he dosent work on crimson glory anymore, this Idea is great. F12, even if it cant be implemented in soldat, it might be implemented in soldat2(MM's next game).

Hmm....

Lieutenant Killroy, the snow would be sort of like the previous Rain and Sandstorm settings.

And, I HAVE SEEN LIGHTNING BEFORE!

It's in ctf_zombiehouse in most zombie servers. You can see it, too. Every 10 seconds, a lightning bolt strikes in the background, so it is possible with scripting.

Oh, and, I do agree with this.

Don't say that you're Magic. Because you aren't, and I am.
All-around good with weapons that aren't long range, except in TW.
Now be careful out there, soldier.

The "Weather Effects" in the game are png's moving around the map, so, I don't believe it will be too hard to add. F12.

That's a glitch with Soldat's rendering.
