Soldat is made by one person.
Soldat is coded in Delphi.
Delphi is really no more or less complex than C++.
Its not the insurmountable obstacle you make it out to be.

Soldat is 2d.
Soldat is not 3d.
Soldat is pixel.

Soldat is pixel? :|

People can create FPS "games" with premade external programs made for it, but nothing serious will ever come out. It is their first project, no first project is going to succeed, ever. (only maybe in EXTREMELY rare cases)

And how many independently developed games do you see that are even close to being as popular as Soldat?  Obviously making an enjoyable and popular game is POSSIBLE, but almost no one accomplishes it.

Well golly-gee there, I believe that Soldat renders them there polygons with a tree-dee injun! Furthermore, I believe Crimson Glory (lol3D) is also made in Delphi.

Do you send out form letters to your Grandma? Of course not, you write the thing yourself.

But if you type it out, you are still writing it out. It comes from your thoughts, the same with writing.
And why are you sending letters to only your grandma, and why could you think of no other situtation but sending a written letter to your grandma?
So yeah.

The coding language doesn't matter. C++ is maybe more complex than Delphi or VB, but in the right hands, it's easier to use than Delphi. It's up to the user. Why would you start coding a program in C++ only if you want it to be better than what you would code in Delphi IF you aren't familiar with C++?

The point in this is that the programming language doesn't matter - But it matters if you compare a programmed game and a game made with FPS creator.

Ah, I stand corrected. Either way, 3D applications can be made in either language. Also, there's really not too much more difficult with 3D programming once you get past the graphical part, animations, model loading, etc. It's just one more dimension you have to take care of. Anyway, we'll see how this whole deal plays out, and then have a good laugh about it.

Not to take a cheap shot at you, but did we not tell you this would happen?  Until you actually gain some legitimate knowlage (not "I know how to make games, trust me"), this still isn't going to work.  Go back and read MM's blog post again.

If you want to make any piece of software or create anything that requires a programming language... you have to take time to learn it yourself.

"I want to make a website, therefore I have to learn HTML"

"I want to make a game, therefore I have to learn C++/Delphi or whatever"

It's all very well you having a neighbor who is a programmer... but I'm willing to bet he/she is a programmer for simple kinds of software such as databases or small applications.

Even people who do these kinds of things usually don't know the first thing about creating a game. Ok.. they might be able to make you a menu interface with adjustable sound levels and customizable controls... but unless they know all about open_gl and directdraw or even how to create a fullscreen 3D rendering application then this is going to go nowhere.

If you want something done in life, then ultimately you have to do it yourself. Even if this programmer has all the neccessary skills to create your game, it will never turn out the way you want it because they are interpretting what you are telling them and then trying to work as best they can within the confines of their knowledge and understanding of game programming.

This will suceed even if I have to find Bill Gates and kidnap him and have him put his best team of programmers on this project muhahahahhaha. For real this game will eventually play out and when it does it will but until then stop bashing on this topic until you see game play or have time on the game.
I will remember this when you have miserably failed.
