Colombian Devil's Breath
« on: July 25, 2007, 03:12:09 am »
From the Borrachero (drunken binge, in english) plant, also known locally as Devil's Breath.

Apparently, it's a drug that, while sharing the same ingredient that makes nightshade so powerful (and deadly), is virtually unknown outside of Colombia and it's surrounding countries.  Tea made from the flowers or roots will make you hallucinate, eating just a fruit and a half will make you trip up to 17 days (or permanently), and one gram is enough to kill several people.

What makes it of special interest to the criminals, though, isn't for recreation or selling: you can give it to someone as the ultimate date rape drug.  That is, after the active ingredient in the seeds is treated with certain chemicals and ingested by someone, that person will remain completely lucid and coherent, but will lose all willpower.  You could give it to someone and literally tell them to kill their own mother -- and they'd do it.

Colombian Devil's Breath

The active ingredient is Scopolamine, which anyone familiar with nightshade is familiar with (very powerful hallucinogenic and killer).  It's actually used in several prescription drugs, but in low doses and only in very rare cases.

Well...I was really bringing it up as "Oooh, such a scary zombie drug," but I could see the appeal.  Really, if it's as deadly as nightshade, I'd keep away (not you, Captain Ben, you can have some).

There are only two sites that talk about this, and they're both unreliable sources. Do your research before posting BS like this.

You'll find more if you look into Scopolamine, instead of the specific name of the drug.

Devil's Breath is virtually unknown outside of Colombia and it's surrounding countries.

1) How did you find out about it (or are you in Colombia)?
2) Why are you spreading the word? Increasing the international demand or just raising awareness?

I found out about it through the link I gave.  It's a site dedicated to independent journalism.

I'm "spreading the word," as it were, just because it's interesting.  The government has searched for drugs like this for years and, if this stuff really does what people say it can do, we're in for a bit of a ride when it becomes widespread.

Well they tested LSD on people without their knowledge so......."spreading the word" might not be a bad idea
