M79 balance
« on: July 26, 2007, 10:20:56 pm »
Hey why doesn't everybody post a balance that they think would work out for the M79? So also post your balance and discuss about others balances. ;D

Yeah, because balances are cool. We should all talk about the balance of the M79 because we're in a weapon balance section and talk about balances because that's what we do... we balance.

Seriously though, the M79 doesn't really need any changes... okay, at close ranges it is pretty annoying, but on larger maps, just use the Ruger or AK and they'll be done like dinner.

No but I think most maps are medium. Most people play on either medium or small maps. Usaully in a 6-12 player server its easy as hell to kill.

That actually makes it harder to earn kills with it, because there would be more people running around, and therefore more potential deaths to the M79 user.

IMO, if killing ourselves would make us lose points like in practically every other game, I think the M79 would be more balanced. What bugs me is how people suicidally rush me with the thing, and then they still get a point although they died too. If we made it where killing ourselves makes us loe points, M79ers would be more careful about how they use the gun. The thing is, in every single game 1 hit kill weapons are cheap. it doesnt matter what it is. If anything, I think Soldat's 1 hit kill weapons are more balanced than in a lot of other games, like solder front where people hide behind boxes with the equivalent of the Barrett and watch over nearly the whole map, sniping people who stick their heads out for 1/2 a second. At least M79ers are exposed and easy to shoot. Just making suicidal rushers lose points for killing themselves.

What the hell? Does everyone feel the need to make a new m79 balance thread every week? Why can't you discuss this in the m79 cure thread?

Yes, its speed was reduced by 5 points, but so was its bink, if I'm not mistaken...

In real life you would be dead with a nade launcher shot directly at you. So M79 is good. Even though I HATE IT. Still balanced.

Even though it may not be the perfect balance, just leave it as it is right now. Mess around with the balance and it might make it worse. People will always be complaining no matter what.

// Changes from 1.3.1 -> 1.4.2

// M79 :   speed -3, bink -5

Damage=165000
FireInterval=6
Ammo=1
ReloadTime=180

Recoil=0
i think the reload time is too slow 150 will go perfect and 120 speed will be perfect

Make the autos more powerful, then all the 1 hit kill weapons would be balanced. Every version they seem to get nerfed more and more. The problem is that it takes too many hits with an auto when you can just pwn someone with the m79.

The worst thing about the one-shot killers it that the damage is very "concentrated in time" due to the slow reload.
If for example the efc has like 1% health and you miss him with m79 or bar, you're screwed. But if you had any auto, you'd pwn him.

But on the flip side, Ive had full health with an auto, Id engage someone with a m79, barett, or knife, and even though I fired first and hit every shot, I die and he lives. That is what bugs me about the 1 hit kill weapons. Also, the socom is powerful enough to use as a primary weapon (trust me, when Ive found my primary isnt working before, i pulled out my socom and get 3 kills, true story) and if an m79 misses he can just pull this out and pwn.

exactly, everybody is whining bout it being to strong or unbalanced ... every freakin gun can be as deadly as the last, you just have to learn to use it ...

also, picking up a spass or ak on your way as secondary weapon really helps ;) people always think when you miss with m79, lets get him, then you pull out your spass, muhaha !!!! always fun ^^
