Monsoonix made free for the community
« on: August 03, 2007, 10:51:37 am »
Alright fellas, if you don't know what Monsoonix is, don't ask. But in short, its the banner service for Soldat that unregistered users see when loading Soldat.
It's run by Michal's brother, but hasn't turned out quite as popular as it could've. So, its now a free service for anything community/soldat related.

If you'd like to advertise your service to the community, whether a popular server you host, a forum, even a mod, anything at all Soldat related and towards it's benefit, you need only send the appropriate image to me (PM me via the forums with the image) and it'll go on Monsoonix for all to see. Banners will rotate around one another, so the image'll change everytime it's loaded.

I'm also looking towards having the Monsoonix banner appear here on the forums for visitors to see, once I work it out. Can't be hard, Michal said it's doable.

There are limitations though, which are...

  • Image must be 400x50 in size. Make it yourself.
  • Must be in .gif format only.
  • Be at or under 40kb in size.
  • Be marginally popular already. I don't want every Tom, Twat and Noob sending me banners for their self-hosted realistic survival advanced WM trenchwar pointmatch server, If you're a recognised service, you're banner worthy.
  • Be linked to a website (Can use a thread on these forums related to it if in doubt)
  • And probably best not to have it contain images or words not suitable for our younger audiences.
  • ..most likely something else i've forgot thats very important. But If I remember, i'll be very angry with you.

Fulfill these requirements and you got yourself a banner on Monsoonix. Woo! Don't spam my PM or you'll get banned!

Would other Soldat Sub-Gamemode forums also fall under "soldat/community related"?

Try me Sytrus.  Just so long as it's not something half-baked and fresh off some kid's imagination, know what I mean? Something that has at least a bit of shelf life and is reasonably recognised.

Alright, made a banner for SoldatPage, I guess that's the type of website you're looking for right?

Image: http://soldatpage.u13.net/dump/monsoonix_soldatpage.gif
Example:

Size: 11 571 Bytes
Format: GIF
Link: http://soldatpage.u13.net/

Also sent this to your PM inbox. I posted this here to get some feedback on the banner if it sucks badly because SoldatPage needs the extra advertising.

Good to know this, Avarax should have a 'monsoonix' banner so even more people know about Hexer. :D

So very very true, hexer really needs to get out there to the players who haven't discovered it already.

Whoopsie, turns out it can only be .gif images. No .jpg's or .png's allowed apparently.

Just working out some of the kinks to the system ....can even set banners to show to those with a particular 'language', ip/ip range, hostname type, set dates for it to be shown, set times, certain days of the week, etc etc..

Diffrent images too?
Maybe I can make multiple banners so you don't always get to see the same SoldatPage banner.

Ah great, I'll make some later on.
Oh and I said in that post I sent you a PM also but considering you replied before I could write it, I didn't send the PM. I'll send the new banners trough PM if there are any.
I only end with "Grtz" when I think there is enough text inside the particular post :P.

Like now,

Hardly anyone clicks them anyway. I paid for like 800,000 views and only 1,000 or so actually clicked it....

The click-rate isn't high because it isn't a website so people want to play instead of visiting a page, but still 1000 is a lot and 800,000 views? Wow were can you get that?

Okay I will make it shorter, just used the site to see what it would look like.
Is there any way at all I can have it 200x50? or does it have to be 400x50?
Never mind I read the first page.
It will be stretched, but at least it will be usable.

Not exactly. I can't submit one 'item' that'll randomly swap between different banners, but i can upload multiple banners which, due to their numbers, would show up more often. Can't see why I wouldn't do that considering it's for SCTFL ...also theres other things that can be done, like having them show up to a specific date, or after, etc..

Ok Chakra, here's the banner for the Brazilian Soldat Community.  ;)

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8729/sbr3xe4.gif (GIF 11kb)

soldat.com.br is the biggest Soldat community in South America. We're also the only site/forum dedicated to Soldat in Brazil. We're listed here in the forums in the "national community pages" and there's also a link to us in soldat.pl front page. You can also see our button (shown below) in the official Soldat page (the one in english).

We have over 4000 members registered in our forums, our own ranking system for clans, download section, 14 dedicated servers and a lot more. As you can see, we're pretty big and we would like to have our banner in Monsoonix to help attract more Brazilian/Latin American players.

Thank you for your time.
