Widescreen support
« on: August 08, 2007, 11:46:16 am »
My Soldat gets stuck all the time and i think it's because of the video res... how about making a 16:10 and 16:9 resolution, since there are more widescreen users everyday ;)

Windows isn't fun.
I am tired of not having a widescreen support, and then people rejecting the idea basically because they don't have widescreen.

Although I don't play Soldat much because it's too buggy in Wine (screen blanks out a lot in fullscreen mode and I must kill the process), I can relate to what you're saying since it's like when people who don't use Linux say there's no need for Linux ports of "Application X".

People running Soldat in widescreen have an unfair advantage over people running it in fullscreen. A bigger FOV means tactical advantages in battle. This is probably why widescreen support won't be added.

Not really, thats why they need to put bars on the top and bottom of the screen, it can all be adjusted to work.
Do you think its fair to US that we don't get to see some of the sides or top and bottom of the screen?
Not fair at all.

The only wide-screen support that I would support is one where soldat puts two black vertical bars left and right...
Can't think of anything original to put here...

What's wrong with widescreen? How is having a widescreen monitor any different from people having laser gaming mice, or gaming keyboards, or a ultra-fast internet connection?

So what your saying is that some people have little advantages over others, so that lets you have a huge advantage over others. I think not.

Us widescreeners cant see all of the screen, but when we ask for a widescreen mode, all you with fullscreens start thinking its not going to be fair to you because now YOU wont see it all, well it doesn't work like that.

Also, don't bullets lose power when they leave the screen. I heard that somewhere and if you had widescreen this would mess this up.

No, they don't.
And not if you have a stretched screen with black bars like my TV.

I have a widescreen monitor and play fullscreen with two vertical black bars.

Check and see if your video card has a configuration utility, I set up mine with the ATI Catalyst Control Center.

This doesn't need to be implemented if you can just fix if yourself.

EErm... sorry forthe double post, but.. Veritas, where do you have that function? I cant find it... do you think my video card doesn't support that? It's ATI Radeon Xpress 1100... But still... make those 2 bars because it's preety annoying to switch the screen mode every time you wanna play soldat

Some of us have shitty computers that can't even spell to ATI.

@Kryp -- go buy some skills. use /command to bring up the commands.
