Ok, I have a xbox.. and I have a copy of halo 2 and the multiplayer copy. Is it worth trying to set up it for multiplayer?

Halo 2 is already Xbox Live compatible by itself.
I would get an 360, the Halo 2 community sucks with all the glitchers now a days.
Get a 360 and buy gears of war and set that up for live.

Mouse > Analoge
You can't say a mouse is better than an analog controller. It's whatever the person prefers. I use a controller whenever I play a PC game that supports it.

The controller just lends that authentic gaming experience.

Mouse > Analoge

Depends on the game.  I prefer a controller for games like Madden, but I prefer a mouse for FPS games.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

How do you play FPS games with analogue control pad thing anyway? I read somewhere that you walk with the left stick, aim with right stick, and shoot with 'the back buttons' (actually I've touched Xbox controller only once in my life, but even more played with a PS2 controller).

That's pretty much correct... move with left, aim with right, fire with (Usually) R1 on PS2, something similiar for Xbox. It's almost standard in console FPSes. It actually works very well considering it's a controller, but the mouse and keyboard is still the most precise for aiming.

Have somebody here played a FPS with a keyboard-trackball combo?

If you don't have cash to go the expensive route and get a 360 then you should go for halo 2.
Well, I don't know how the community is nowadays, might be more glitchers now, in which case, stay away.
how comes you got an xbox and not a 360 though? (presuming you recently bought it)

If you have spare cash though then xbox live is a neat feature and you don't only have to play halo 2.

Nope, its not as great as it once was. Start looking at newer games. Personally, I like the way Lost Planet multilayer looks. I haven't gotten a chance to play it yet.

Edit: Oh, it still hasn't come out?

Edit: Oh, it still hasn't come out?

Lost Planet released last June...

For someone who doesn't normally play it, Halo 2 has some fun multiplayer. The best thing to do is to get your buds to play with you--random quickmatches don't always leave you with the friendliest people. Or mature ones. Or ones that aren't twelve, or have weird accents that you don't understand.

Mouse+keyboard is definitely better, but controller+console is more convenient as not everyone has a gaming rig. Those are expensive.
