PS2 with network play
« on: August 09, 2007, 01:34:55 pm »
I'm up to buy an network adaptor for my PlayStation2 to play some games on multiplayer.

I think I currently have only one game which supports onlineplay, Tony Hawk's pro skater 3. Note that I'm not so up to date at PS2 games (not PC games either).

So do you know any good multiplayer games for PS2? I wonder if the network adaptor is worth buying at all? How does playing online with PS2 differ to playing online at computer?

Note that I wont pay 100€ for a PS2 game. :P

I had SOCOM II, which gave me a hell lot of fun.
Besides, I heard there's SOCOM III now, but I don't know if it's for PS2.

don't buy a network adapter for a dieing/dead console, especially if you only have tony hawk 3 (they are up to like 8 by now)

THPS3 is my only game that supports onlineplay, I have a pile of other games for it. I will buy Wii though, later when the price goes down (gots other stuff to buy).

I had a wii, I also had a computer right next to it. The internet function was pointless.

I can think of a few times I used my wii over my pc (they are also right next to each other)

But also for multiplayer and updates the internet function is pretty sweet, and the opera browser is updated.

I don't think you know what a PS2 is...
Anyway, don't know enough about PS2 to suggest a good game, especially for online, google it or something.

I'm not into any special genres on PS2 games, I have a lot of different kind of games, I play nearly anything except games made for small children. :P I'm propably going to check BF, Killzone, Socom II, Need for Speed and Test Drive, I have older versions of these driving games for PS1. :P Gotta love that 'cop & police' race thing. :D

IMO buying a PS2 is a waste of money. No offence, but I think it's only for realy bored kidos, or those who dunno how to use a PC.

If test drive is on PS2 too you definitely have to check that out, one of the best racing games ever in my opinion.
Of all the games mentioned here I've seen most and can suggest you these three:
- Action: SOCOM (II or III)
- Racing: Need for speed (Underground2 or Carbon)
- Racing: Test Drive unlimited

Also, I don't know if any of the James Bond series support online gameplay, but James Bond usually is a very fun game to play with a friend.

I got it back at then when it was more popular (atleast my friends had it and I liked it). I didn't have good PC either. Besides I've spent a lot of fun hours with it so why not!

Actually I didn't like test drive for my PS1. :o I really do like Gran Turismo though. And those Need for Speed's.

I love Ratchet and Clank, but it's more single-player than multiplayer.

There's a lot of excellent online games for the PS2: Battlefield Modern Combat, any SOCOM, Test Drive Unlimited (though it's way better on the PC or 360), Killzone, and MGS 3: Subsistence.

and MGS 3: Subsistence.

Subsistence's servers went offline in April.
