The Map Scrapyard
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:39:15 pm »
This is a thread where you can post all of your failed maps, or maps that you couldn't/didn't want to finish.

By posting them here, you agree to let anyone take and modify it, and possibly release the map if it's fit for release.

I'll add your map to this post when it is posted  ;)

Some rules:

-Don't post your map if it was made in 5 seconds, or if there is no possible way it can be salvaged at all.
-Don't post other people's maps for them.
-Please post all scenery/textures used with the map file.
-Make sure to include a screenshot of the map.
-Feel free to take any of these maps and give them a facelift.
-The map can be incomplete. It should have taken more than 5 minutes though.
-Please give credit to the original map maker if you decide to post the modified version. ;)

Nice topic idea. Now I can post all my cr4p maps which ph41l3d m1s3r4bly. :P

ctf_Dread looks pretty cool, actually. Seems like it could have Kampf-like, arguable gameplay.
ctf_Fodder = M79 <3 And what's up with ctf_Badland? :P It really is a bad land!

Awesome idea! Dread looks really awesome. I would love to play that one sometime.
I remember playing Zahn on a public server some time ago. It was quite a barretfest at that time. :P

Not right now, no. Skool just started so I myself have no time to submit my junk. :P Don't think the Scrapyard is a bad idea, tho'; I've never seen such a thread before, and I think it could be fairly popular given some time for development. :)

As long as most of the submitted maps have some sort of quality that makes them fixable.

I have a few more maps, i'll post them when i get the chance.

I have almost all of Chakapoko's unfinished maps on my HD. They're really quite awesome, especially the penis one.

Maybe I can complete Jungleshrine :) All it really needs is a ton more scenery, anyways. Linky, Avarax!

Zahn is great, I'd finish it but I get an error trying to open it ("file automation error" and some others). Can someone else please try download and open and recompile and upload it, isn't working for me.

Okay, I got Jungleshrine. Thanks. (knowing me, though, I probably won't release a finished version until next year xD)

@Boxo: I can't seem to find the problem either. ctf_Zahn still busts PW even after deletion of all the waypoints and recompiling. :-\ Perhaps I'll look more into it later.

EDIT Okay... somehow, deleting all the waypoints, all the spawn points, and almost all the scenery finally allowed ctf_Zahn to be PW-compatible. :P Do you think you can work with that, Boxo, or should I experiment a bit more?

EDIT #2 Found the problem. Here, PW-compatible ctf_Zahn; had to scrap some bad scenery, and all the waypoints except two (okay, that action was on my own, but just because they were t3h suck ;D). The map's overall a bit small IMO, but otherwise good. Nice scenery manipulation.
