the eye is watching. (animated!)
« on: August 14, 2007, 02:16:48 am »
I think it's rather a sexy eye for being done in ms paint. I've been trying to create a gif where the eye closes and then blends in with the background after being sealed...giving the illusion that the forums "breed" the eye, but have had horrible luck. If anyone besides me is willing to take up the challenge to animate it, plz feel free to PM and let me know. I'm going to try some more myself to see if I can get it to work properly. Cheers!

EDIT (8/15/07): I changed the image a bit, as well as implemented a secondary option for a gif. After considering my first option with the eye closing to be rather tough, I opted to try with just a creepy twist to the inner eye...enjoy!

Hm...the eye seems very angry at you....what have you done?

As you can (or could) tell by right-clicking the image, it's size is over 2x the regulation for an animated avatar. If anyone would be willing to condense this gif image for me, I would be very grateful. I'm not really one to go hunting for programs that have in the past failed me miserably when it comes to gif reduction. If you can try not to mess with the color palette that would be dandy. Cheers to whoever takes up the task!

haha, I guess you could say that the "cross" in the middle represents one thing...but it could mean another entirely. ;) I was also sorta noticing how the eye itself doesnt have much ...depth. It's all one color that doesnt have a point of light aimed at it or anything to give it a 3d realism...could I mess around with saturation to give that effect?

That would be badass. Too bad I don't know a thing on GIF animation.

Update: I added forum colors to the eyelid that is exposed when the eye is open as well as accented the inner pupil and outer veins with varied saturation. Whadya think now?

This is an example of how it would look in either forum post color that you use.

I also edited the original eye (one with black) keeping the near-purple line that's closest to the eye itself. It's my new avatar atm...I think it looks better with all the new saturation additions as well. Whadya think? (For being non-animated I mean)

new avy (in black):

I updated it a bit. Take your pick out of the available 3 here.  Tell me which one you think looks best with the forum scheme. I prefer 3 myself, since it sorta shades into the forum colors most closely.

Here's what I did with it: Formula=pivot+MS paint*boredom

haha, i like the formula you created ;) With pivot can you control movement speed? If you could just slow that down and possibly change how the line bends...like instead of closing the eye like a square the edges of the lids also close with it. Adjust that and the speed and it would look amazing :O

Oh and also, the eye should stay in transition-state long enough to make it seem like it was never opened...so give or take like 5 seconds...then opens slowly...then closes slowly...i may also make it so that it opens up...then the eye center rotates (the symbol) then closes again. who knows.
