The reason some of you hate Bleach is because it takes a little bit of inspiration from a large variety of past animes. But it's all familiar and is mixed into something quite new and old. I like it because it mixes well.

No we hate it because it's not interesting and the same **** happens over and over again. Besides I hate fantasy.

I watched the original Dragon ball when I was a kid. It was kinda cool, it had japanese screeching voice actors, but 'twas ok. I regret watching pokemons...

But the two truly great anime movies are Apple seed and, the best of all, Akira. If you haven't watched akira, you don't know what a great movie is.

I watch Ghost in the Shell when it comes on tv and I am awake... other then that I really don't watch the stuff anymore. I try to watch some but usually I just find myself going off due to boredom. Like today I sat through the last half of a Naruto episode and about 10 minutes of another because I was waiting to leave for work and there is nothing else on at 8-9am. So I am watching and the first episode is just them walking around and them BAM baddie is in the tree, I think to myself "Oh I have seen some Naruto clips with decent action... maybe this will get me to start watching the show..." Wrong... They sit and talk about the guy for a few minutes... then talked about some guys eye for a few minutes... then they are just standing around for a few more minutes. Finally some guy attacks and about two moves into the fight he is basically had(Knife put to his throat, don't see anyway out of that). All the while you see that horrible anime cliche of a close-up of a characters face, shaking in some strange manner with them saying something along the lines of "Ohh" "Ahhh" "Whaaa" "Nnnggg" "Grr." Maybe I just caught a really crap show but I was so mad it took so long for two blows to be thrown in a series about fighting... If you guys can change my mind go for it... but now Naruto seems to be the shining example of why I really don't like anime... their pace is idiot, people can travel vast distances in one single episode but a fight can never finish in one....

well t its more rewarding to watch if you know the back story and the reason they are even there. if you start in the middle of a season in the middle of an episode all you see is obviously guys talking about stuff you dont have the slightest clue about. not every episode is action packed and so on.

The oldest known anime is a 3-second clip in 1907. And anime was now widely accepted in the '90s.

Mancer. i think you have had some bad experiences with anime fans.  The kinds that you keep bringing up are just mindless fans who draw ****ty fan art.   were not all like that. and i dont think anyone here is like that. or we would of got spammed with **** loads of fan art of link or naruto. or a human form of shadow the hedgehog.

Though, being slightly stoned when I posted my rants, I still stick true to the fact that 95% of my friends in real life that like anime try to draw it and draw it poorly. Not that some of my best friends aren't complete anime mental-cases, Its just I have a preconceived notion about people that like it. Stereotyping yes, but its something I can't get rid of. Call it a macho deficiency, I feel less manly when I think/see/hear anything related to anime.

Fail. I watched a full episode with my friend colby because he is an anime nut. It was an entire 30 minutes of some drawn out sword fight with special super magic abilities and then omhg he goes super sayian and wtf is his sword turning to petals? OMG HIS SWORD IS TURNING TO PETALS BUT THEY ARENT PETALS THEY ARE MAGIC BLADES GET AWAY YOU WILL DIE OH SJHIT

People like you are just why I made this thread. You probably never watched an anime in your life, only walk past a TV with pokemon or heard of other people that hated it so you thought it must be a cool thing to hate.
Watch some good anime and your viewpoint will be completely changed. I promise

I also like how you assume Ive never actually tried to watch it, or anyone else. Why watch a full episode or season when from my first impression, its utterly corny and ridiculously lame? I will be honest however, when I was 9 I watched dragonball, and stopped watching it right about when Majin buu first appeared. My friend kyle got obsessed with it from that point and I started to think it was the most boring waste of time I've ever seen.

Elfen Lied is a pretty dark story, but yeah, it's got some humor in it. Which is a nice break from somebody's limbs being chopped off.
