Let your ego take over in hexer.  Get owned by a guy whos level is 10 below yours and youll start seeing the strategy.  Youll HAVE to or youll feel like an idiot.

TW + Hexer get the noobs there, they are alawys full.

Define "noobs" :D
They develop their own kind of skill, depending on the special subgamemode they are playing. And actually, isn't it a good thing that all those subgamemode servers are like "noob" magnets as you said? It should keep all the other servers clean from the "noobs" :O
If you are so pissed of that all and really want a good ol' CTF server with "cool" people, why don't you set one up yourself, around $8 a month should do the job. If you really really wan't it, you should consider paying that little price, you also contribute to the community with noble acts like that.
I respect your "way of playing Soldat", I enjoy it myself.
Just keep in mind that TW and TW players or Hexer and Hexer players aren't the same thing.

Maybe I am just starange, but I see nothing interesting or attracting in TW or Hexer. I go to them if I really awnt to play some publics, and there is nowhere else to go.

I like Soldat as it used to be, nowadays TW, Hexer and R/S take the people off from servers, and it is very hard to find a decent CTF server without bonuses and with 3-5 seconds respawn.

Well, it is like music, it develops. People get interested by new ideas and such. I am still listening to mainly 80's and 90's thrash metal. It is like if I ask people here do they know what defines that kind of music, or waht is it, I could say that very tiny percentage can define it or so, without asking someone/looking from google/wikipedia.

I like my Soldat as I like my metal, old but reliable.

I have always been curious why people prefer Hexer/TW / R/S rather than normal CTF, especially the new players. Maybe it is just because old players started Soldat when there was no such thing as R/S really, there was no sign of TW or Hexer, and they loved Soldat. Just like me. Now, there is Hexer, R/S, TW and such, which I dislike. They are different from what I used to love, so I don't really enjoy them as I enjoy normal CTF or DM, or TDM.

Why not putting up my own server? Why would I? There are existing servers aswell, though they are usually empty. Putting up a new one would not really help.

For example, almost 3 years ago when I put up FunkyDM, there was no DM server for me to play, other DM servers had bonuses, had high ping and were limited to 16 players. So I set mine up. In first few weeks the server was full quite alot, even I selfhosted it on my old computer, with a crappy 512/512 connection.

Now the server is running on 100/100MBit connection, on a remote server, dedicated for running servers and services. Now, the server remains quite empty, there were more players back then when I had it selfhosted.

So, what I mean is that I see nothing "fun" in TW, Hexer, Realistic or R/S. Still they are being full, and usually they are moer like chatting places for people rather than a game server where you are playing, and not chatting. And as a side effect for this, there aren't much players on normal CTF servers really, there might be CTF server with 15 seconds respawn, bonuses, 16 players and only map in rotation is ctf_Ash. Fun?

I have played R/S in the past, alot enough to know how it is, and how it works. It just can not attract me as normal mode does.

What is so special in Hexer, or TW, or Realistic or R/S?

Offtopic really. :| Sorry.

Did you not understand my point, or did you not understand it for a purpose?

What I meant is that things were better back then. Now we have the commercial music business which only intention is to make money. Then we have the old music businses from the time when they created music just because they liked it. Now we have Hexer and TW, Realistic and R/S, which bring in new players, but won't really attract oldies. Same goes with music. How many people from 80's bands are currently playing in bands like Linkin Park or such?

No, my intention was not to come here and argue about how I think that everything new jus sucks, including music and Soldat game modes, and even commercial games. But it was to fund the asnwer why TW/Hexer and others are so popular and liked. What makes them good? And then I took it as a side note than nowadays it is hard to find regular, playable normal CTF game.

Wow, this topics really strayed away. :-\

But yeah, from what I can tell, both Avi and GAMEY are at fault.

GAMEOVER should have never been such an ass in the first place, but Ava really shouldn't have posted his account information for everyone to see.

Both of you, naughty. >:(

Well Claw, I agree with you. For the music analogy, I'm really old fashoined, listen to rock from 60's-80's and occasionally classical. For the soldat analogy, I would love a game of good old fashioned U13 INF, 10 players, no bonuses, and 5 second respawn. I just think Hexer is original and I am playing it becuase there really isn't anything better unless you want to play like a crazy gun mod or climb. Man I wished I could find a good game...

I don't appreciate Hexer anymore. The only weapons people seem to use are the m79 and MP-5, plus a lot of the people there act like children, what with the constant flaming I hear people spewing at eachother.

Eh, it was fun for a while, but now...

wow I don't understand you guys

first of all if you dot like hexer don't play it? then you dont need to post here..

second of all there isnt constant flaming in Hexer Servers only when a retard comes in and does not understand the rules.

If someone is really being retarded and flaming just votekick them.. simple and easy.

I like Hexer, I just don't like most of the people there or some of the new rules they set up. For example, when I logged in today it gave me a message saying my name was too long, thus it deducted 25% of my level, which was 4 levels. I went from level 16 to level 12 all because I used my full name.
Does that seem fair to you? :-\

Your levels were reduced because of the new hexer script!  EVERY ONES LEVELS WERE REDUCED.  Noone can have a name longer than 20 char. because it bugs some players.

I SAY AGAIN....YOUR LEVELS WERE REDUCED BECAUSE OF THE NEW HEXER UPDATE....EVERYONE....AND I MEAN EVERYONES LEVELS WERE REDUCED.

get your facts strait before you diss HEXER!!! lol

Well how the hell was I supposed to know that? It's the first time I've been able to get into the server in ages, so I assumed when it said "Name too long" and "-4 levels" I had been punished for a long name.

If that's the case, then my bad.

I don't see any fault in Avarax's actions.

You act like a pissant, you get punished for it. It's not like he wasn't given ample time to shape up.

As for the rest of this, the topic has gotten rather, well, off-topic.

I haven't played Hexer, but it sounds awesome. To blame a game-mode for "ruining" a game is stupid, especially when your basis is the players. Well, dur, you can't blame a game for the people it attracts, just like you can't blame a bar for the drunkards it brings.

Kudos to Avarax for continuing to make awesome, unique servers.
Gameover, shape up man. That was pathetic.
