My first map CTF_Hex

This is my first map and I want your comments on it.

As it is my first real map i've ever made please dont be too mean or vulgar.


it seems boring imo ..

:d all help would be appreciated

*updated the screenshot has more scenery, and added the flag placement suggestion made by ghg*

ugh i dont know how to get rid of the old screenshot.. sorry pplz

It looks really good. Not so sure on layout maybe, but keep it up.

For a first map that looks really good....keep it up and youll be a pro one day lol

Are you considering asking av to put this in hexer?  If so make sure its waypointed.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too

uh im not gonna ask Avarax to put this map in his Hexer servers because I dont think it'll be any fun lol.

Im gonna adjust it and see.

I'd have put the flags on top of the floating islands. Otherwise no one will ever go up there and then the map becomes too straightforward.

I think that the texture is a bit weird, because it's stretched in so many places, this can be good thing, but i guess i dont really know too much about it.

Why not? We are playing weird layout default maps (In my opinion) and their gameplay are good.
PS : is waypointing hard?
Just try. It can be fun or boring, not hard or easy. Is just fun if you like do it, but if it is boring... don't do it. Maps don't need any waypoint, it's only optional.

When i was making this map, I didn't know why texture was all that important
so i just stretched my polys and what not. Also I think my shading is wierd.. i gave it a try after reading some of the shading/mapping tutorials.

Btw How do you make crates collide with players and bullets?

I put a collider in the box and it collides with bullets but not with players, Its boggling me mind  :-\

I have to waypoint my map for it to be considered in the Hexer servers because they use Bots as Summons.

you put that crate front (not back, not middle) and 2 normal polys behind it.

that water on top is WAY too blue, make it more lightblue or greenish blue.

Thanks for pointing it out, so far after i took this screenshot i've put in my front scenery and some background scenery using the SML scenery tutorial :D.

btw are there any pallettes that are on the soldatforums?

I've only found scenery and tex packs.
