Game server not registered
« on: August 25, 2007, 04:14:04 pm »
hey, i've just started a dedicated server. people can join it ok,
but in the window it says game server not registered. what exactly does that mean? here's some settings and relevant pics:

(note that the lobby server is responding)

(the open ports in my router)

("never forward clients" doesn't seem to make a difference either way)

(remote admin is not working for some damned reason, but i don't really need it right now)

so what does the message even mean, how can i make it go to registered, or is this some glitch that doesn't really mean anything?

also, enesce's tester shows my remote admin not working, even though it uses the same port as the game port (23333, tcp). the router's drop-down lets me use "both" (tcp and udp), i've tried that too instead of seperate entries, and that didn't seem to help.

anyone have ideas?

Game Server Not Registered is for the All Seeing Eye. Looks like you haven't forwarded the ASE port so that would be normal. --edit: or maybe it is forwarded, but ASE just isn't quite working or something; either way, it's not a big deal.

Remote administration will fail if you haven't set an admin password in soldat.ini; just make sure that you set this if you want to allow remote admins.

I would strongly recommend that you use the stand alone dedicated server though, and use a third party admin program to get similar information as the GUI provides.

Admin_Password=***** in the .ini, it's already there. anything else?

well what port number does it use? i haven't seen that documented anywhere. that is just for the standalone software kind of like gamespy, correct?

Game Port + 123 UDP is for ASE.

As for remote admin, try a remote admin tool and try to connect to your external IP and see if connecting actually works. If it doesn't, try connecting to your local IP. If you can't connect from your own computer (or another on your network) there's probably some sort of firewall issue; if you can connect from inside, but not outside your router, then the problem lies with your router.

i've already connected to it and played on it from another machine on the network, using external ip and regular game port.

Remote Administration is not available at all in the built in dedicated server. The built in one also is outdated and just generally sh!tcakes. So use the Dedicated Server 2.6.2. Although it says your server isn't registered, it actually is.
