Ok i usually play with a ping of about 150-170... depending on what server iam playing on... and i only play Aussie servers because i have dial up... But last night i was at my girlfriends place and she felt sick so she went to bed leaving me bored. so i hopped on her computer, downloaded soldat, and started to play. Now she has a 1.5 meg connection or better (iam not sure) so i wa splaying with a ping of about 33... and i couldn't kill anyone... It was weird, i have gotten so used to having a high ping that when i dont ping out i cant kill a thing.

Has this happened to anyone else when they have transfered from a slow connection to a faster one? Or am i just a douche

Of course it fucks up your aim, you're used to aiming with less FPS, or the Soldats going "faster".

You know what messes me up? Using new interfaces. For the first hour or so, I cant aim for shit!

Didnt happen to me....when i switched from low speed to high speed i had not played in 4ish months and i was just as good/bad as i always was lol no skill change at all.

It was pissing me off... i could finally play trench wars without pining out when an air strike came and i couldn't shot for shit.

It should be easier to adjust to changes in speed in 1.4.x, since nowadays it's easier to kill people, even if you're lagging.

In 1.3.1, you had to shoot in front of the person if your ping was higher, and it took a bit to get used to the speed change if you changed. In 1.4.1, you don't need to shoot in front of them. If you hit someone on your screen, they actually get hit (therefore, laggers can be snipers).

That's not always the case, in over 150 ping or even 100, It takes me about 12 ak bullets to kill someone and not 7. Lag still exists and it forces you to work twice as hard to kill anything.
I play 10x better in my server then if i joined say.. an American server with over 150 ping. :(

The reason you probably wasn't as effective on your gf's computer was because it wasn't your computer. I played soldat a few weeks ago on my brothers pc, same speed as mine, and similar keyboard, and played rather bad.

hmm ok that might of been it i guess... yeah i have been noticing that it takes 3 or 4 shots sometimes with the rugar to kill people when i play some servers when my ping is higher.

I was used to playing Soldat on dial-up but as soon as I got broadband, my killing was much better.

Higher ping, higher lag, whatever. Isn't it true that if your connection is slower your fps will decrease?

No, the movement of everything will just be less smooth. FPS is determined by how much stuff your system can handle. It varies depending on the map, number of players, number of bullets, number of objects and what else you have running.
With a greater ping, you may need to aim further ahead in order for your shot to be registered as a hit, as far as I know.

For example maps like airpirates always seem to have a small decrease in fps. (At least for me)

but yeah,it messes up your aim. in version 1.4.1 i had great aim, and now in 1.4.2 it really sucks because 1.4.2 seems to go slower then 1.4.1.

So instead of nursing a sick person, you decide to play a video game. Jack Thompson should put you on speed dial.

With low ping you actually have to aim at the thing you shoot at, not lead it very much at all. But to avoid an anger stroke over practically nothing I always just assume that leg shots on a person going up miss.

Actually this did happen to me. I had Netzero dial-up, and I went from that to Road Runner cable, and it screwed me up really bad for a few days. I just remebered that, that's funny.
