If the world ever ends, it will be via human action.

It's quite definite that when the Sun becomes a red giant in approximately three billion years and engulfs Earth, we will no longer be living on it. I say this because even in a few million years, the weather on our beloved planet will be too extreme for living conditions; my money's on long, 200-degree summers and short, negative-50-degree winters for the most part.

Despite this, human population is already growing too large to be supported by our planet -- and growing exponentially as we speak. Give it a century or so, and I'm willing to bet that we'll have multiple space stations and possibly some communities on Mars.

No matter what, the cause of the end of the world will not be an asteroid, and it will not be anytime soon (although it does seem like Earth needs a threat as such to heighten international relations; nothing brings people together like the urge to survive).

The 2012 theories are pure bollocks. Anyone remember June 6th, 2006 and the hype about "the day of the beast"? Believe it all you want. It's not happening.

Edit: And hey, why care? Either (A) you're not going to live that long, or (B) you'll only have a short while to panic when you've realized you're about to perish with everything you've ever come to know. >_>

I believe that the human race will die out as an extension of what Kazuki wrote.

We'll end up killing off this planet and it's resources and move to space. We can't move anywhere else except within this solar system however and I expect at the point at which the demand for resources to build solar panels exeeds the supply, the human race will die out.

We'll end up killing off this planet and it's resources and move to space. We can't move anywhere else except within this solar system however and I expect at the point at which the demand for resources to build solar panels exeeds the supply, the human race will die out.

Massive amounts of sleeper ships or generation ships for colonization could be created, and sent to random stars that have planets in the green zone.

or then again if we find a race we can just create a zombie syndrome, well anyway heres how it goes.

If you give a alien race a zombie syndrome, then a few zombies will start attacking the alien race, if they start attacking the alien race, then the aliens will call in their army. if the army fails then the alien president will launch a nuclear strike on their own soil.
