You're right everyone who is on IRC and play gather/cws came from the pubs, but the level on IRC can't be compared to the level on pubs.

If you don't believe I can propose you something :

Gather the 6 best pub players from here or pubs themselves and play against the top 6 clanners, if you win, then you're right... If you lose guess what?

EnEsCe: Script Core Maker, Everyone knows him, Great scripter in general
Demonic: Great Map Maker
The Geologist: Another Great Map Maker
Leo: Infiltration
Toumaz: Fisbox

What more must I say? EVERYONE knows Toumaz
DorkeyDear: He tought me how to script, comes up with some useful stuff
Kavukamari: Shows up in almost EVERY scripting topic with a solution and just a good player in general ;p
Niko: Just a well known player and mapper
Chakra: How do you not know who he is? Everyone knows him, and he's funny

Thats All I can think of right now. Those are MY personal favorites.

You missed VTT -> One of the greatest mapmakers ever.
You missed Chakapoko (Not sure how to spell it) -> Very good mapmaker too.
You missed Wraithlike -> Well known as a mapmaker and TMS moderator.
You missed Bombsky -> Everybody know him as a climber...
You missed SonSukka -> One of the best KZ maps and climber ever...

I don't think that i am so known.... only in Leo's R/S/A... everybody knows me

I don't know if these arehe most poular players, but these are the players that I've been seeing for a couple of years. (Especially all the time (years?) when I played in elite snipe and slice.)
