The Soldat Artist?!
« on: August 24, 2007, 12:23:29 pm »
Hey I used to play soldat awhile back - and I recently checked back into it - it seems to have come along way.

Either way I was wondering who the artist was behind the game?  is it MM himself?  I didn't really have time to check into deep detail of it, just had enough time to register today, either way VERY nice updates for the game MM, impressive coding.

MM is behind Soldat, FliesLikeABrick is maintaining the lobby server and EnEsCe is dealing with the Soldatserver.

Yes, MM does everything himself.

Except for what clawbug said.

I think he needs a new artist, the graphics coud be made better. And don't try to sell me that "original is the best because it feels like soldat" speak.

There isn't really that much art. The Soldat players are actually basic sprites (images) that are strung together and animated dynamically. The textures, yes, if they arn't from a texture pack MM purchased. The rest is fairly small. I commend him for the overall look but their isn't any art happening that's uber-excellent.

nah, lowquality fits best imo, it's about the gameplay, not the looks...if you don't like it? MOD it

Agreed.

People can use mods, and make their own graphics if they want to. If one really thinks Soldat needs better graphics, then open Paint and edit the files, simple as that.

the art is good the way it is. Soldat is a 2d game so dont expect some extreme super art. Its good the way that is.

And i agree with Clawbug, mod if u want to change how ur soldat looks

Exactly what I had in mind. heheh
And no, Soldat DOESN'T need any graphical changes! It's already too much with 1.4.x.
People who think otherwise are just noobs and should burn in hell. ;)
Bring back Soldat 1.3.1! New bullet trails DIE!

The next noob who complains about the style is meat.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.
