Gosteks?
« on: August 31, 2007, 12:05:26 pm »
Im about to finish my HL2 mod now, but the gosteks bother me.
HOW to get them to show ingame?
I edited the gostek files in the GostekGFX folder and then replaced it with the one the game uses.

I tried playing DM and TM, but the gosteks are still the originals.

What is wrong?

did you try going on bravo team?

gosteks are quite confusing... there's two sets, one used for deathmatch, alpha team and charlie team... another set for bravo and delta teams ( I can't remember exactly which way round it is though...)

Soldat/Gostek-gfx = set 1
Soldat/Gostek/Team2 = Set 2

try replacing both sets.

Will try.
But if you play deathmatch, with the gosteks being DIFFERENT, does soldat randomly give you a gostek or you stay as Team 1?

And i also tried Bravo Team, but no changes.:(

Also tried changing both of the gostek teams, so that i could be sure.
Then i tried DM and TM with both teams...but STILL no changes!

Defaut gostek for a deathmatch game is team one. Alpha, Charlie, and Delta also use Team 1 gosteks always. Team 2 is Bravo exclusive.
To sum up my point: We had a multipage debate about toilet padding. (Putting TP in the water so you don't get splashed.)
And we still don't know if dead guys can keep a stiffy.

Right, but wrong. In team DM games, alpha and charlie use team1 gosteks and bravo and delta use team2 gosteks. In normal DM, everyone uses team1 gosteks.

Make sure you edited the stuff in the main folder, not the mods folder. Maybe you could also do the same in the mods folder and have it as a seperate gostek-gfx folder so that you could select it in the new Soldat front end or some other mix-and-match app.

That shouldn't matter, since i replaced the main folder anyway, but WHY aren't they showing?

Edit: I  tried a little thing, to make sure they change.
It worked, the gosteks DO change, but it's just the color of them.
What if i DON'T want my alpha team to be red?
How to change the color of the team?
Otherwise the gosteks are ok now.

The team colours are pretty much hard coded into the game.. there's nothing you can really do about it. - You could try making the torso gosteks black.. but that would just make people look black instead of red/blue whatever (I'm not sure if this works)

With clanmatch enabled all the players on a team will wear the same colours as the person who first joined that team...

Hm. Odd that I haven't noticed that.

Yeah, base team colors are hard-coded into the game itself. Like Mangled said, the only way to cancel it out is with black, and it's not very photogenic.

I always have clanmatch on all my non-online Soldat copies. I hate the red/blue pinnies.

But turning Clanmatch on wont really help then...since the first player, who joins is still red.

Indeed. You'll just have to deal with it. =|

SO if you edit a a gostek, in TM it will alwys be red?

So besides black, what other colours could be used on the gostek?

Black is the only thing that can effectively cancel out the red without you getting an ugly color.

you could try using a blue gostek... which may mix with the red to create purple... but I'm not sure about it..
