How do I get banned from a server without going in it?

I tried to go in a server an hour after I left it intentionally and it said I was banned. What happened?

if you leave when there is a kick vote against you you get auto-banned

Maybe the knife bug? Did you drop your knife and pick up another weapon quickly? It's happened to me in this version several times.

It might be that the server is down. That's how it was for one of my favorite server. Everyone was kicked.
