Help me out please =[

Ok, i've got a 4gb Transcend USB and its not working atm <.<

This is what happened so far.

It's being working fine until a friend copied stepmania from my usb to his laptop. He seemed to have removed it correctly since i was watching him. When a went home, i plugged it into my laptop before i turned it on and then i booted up the laptop while usb is still in it. USB did not work at first but when i removed it and plugged it back in, it worked perfectly.

Next day, while i was at my english tutor's house, it took me 3 tries of plugging and replugging my USB to get it to work. I also noticed that a few files from my English folder may have dissappeared.

When i went home, USB became increasingly hard to activate and when it did, it sorta shut down when i clicked on the stepmania folder. After numerous tries, i got it to activate once more and i tried to delete the stepmania folder. It failed the first time saying some crap about not being able to read/rewrite (not exactly sure) and after this, i the USB workind twice more, each time deleting a small portion of stepmania, until it just completely stopped working.

When i plug it into my computer, it still recognizes it and i can see the removable drive in "My Computer" but when clicked on, it says 'please insert a disk into drive'.

Can somebody please tell me whats going on? Is there some program to help me format my USB or fix it in any way?

Please refrain from saying 'just buy a new one ffs' because i'm a poor bastard and i CBF wasting another $50 >

Have you tried right clicking on the USB icon and picking format?

EDIT: It sounds like the USB is corrupt but if you manage to format then it might work again.

Yeh i tried that but it doesn't do anything. =[

I think a format will get it to work as well but how?

you are a little late to reformat it, its probably dead now, but if you just cleared it out before then it might have been just fine.

Get a new one, and "safely removing" things is a bunch of crap, you just don't rip it out while you have a bunch of files open that is what causes these corrupt files.

Shouldn't you also remove your USB stick before shutting down the laptop? or computer or whatever.

the only important thing is that you don't corrupt files, if you have something from the drive open when you remove the drive then you could corrupt the file, thats when they get ****ed up.
