The German army didn't kill the Jews for their religious beliefs, but their stereotype. Hitler believed the Jewish people were trying to control their economy, and had them all captured to ensure Germany's economy would be stable. He then rounded up gays and gypsies and killed them all off as "inferior races", a throwback to the ancient Assyrian race.

Is Judiaism a religion? Last I checked it was. And since they targeted said religion. And I believe I said it generates wars, meaning it plays a key roll in causing it. Religion plays a part in loads of wars.

Religion, I feel is a very hit and miss thing... There are a few good aspects of it, but they are heavily outweighed by the bad aspects.

There are some moral aspects of some religions that I do think are right, but that is not to say that you need to be religious to be a morally justified person. Nobody needs religion to tell them what's right and wrong, it's merely common sense.

I do think that some of the devotion that people show to religion is admirable. To pray more times than you eat meals, to restrict your diet in such a way, to contribute to charitable causes. I do respect people who use religion for good and are devoted in a possitive way.

The big problem I have with religion is that, in my opinion... it's just not true.

Religion is mans most powerful invention. Give millions of people the promise of an afterlife and forgiveness and a large handful of them will be willing to kill and torture countless in the name of that religion and the manipulating hands that govern it. This is mainly down to extremists who take their religion far out of context in the name of causing harm in the world.

The point is.. that the overwhelming majority of wars and crusades that have ever happened. Every country or group that participated, believed that they were carrying out Gods will, or that God was on their side. And the mere idea of people believing in other Gods, or even no God, would drive people to commit such atrocities.

I have many reasons for being an Atheist, one reason is because there is so much hurt in the world, if God was really so omnipotent he wouldn't allow anybody to suffer. Certainly if I was God, I would make everything nice and fluffy, and that everybody live forever in happyness. - That's supposed to be what heaven is like but of course, once you're dead you can't explain to other people that you were lied to your entire life.

I'm stopping here before I start going on a rant that might be percieved as offensive...

Technically, you can switch from as many religions as you want, as many times as you want, at any given period of time. It's not written down in stone, it's an abstract affiliation.
