Experimental Balance - Near perfect?
« on: July 11, 2006, 12:47:45 pm »
Me and a few clan members (from 2/3 aus clans) have tested the Experimental Balance, and we found it near perfect, except from a few flaws.

People who tested it:
Me (started in 1.1)
Liquid Metal (Started 1.0.5b)
UnluckyXIII (Started 1.0.5b)

Bl1nk

KillYuri

Flaws found:
Only one, Soccom is too weak, possible solutions:

Damage - 3 (instead of -5) and Fire Interval +1
Damage - 4 (instead of -5)
Damage - 1 (instead of -5) and Bink + 10

within a couple weeks, we will have a forums.soldat.pl server that will use this modified balance you all have been working on.  This forum will then be used to continue to tweak and discuss the balance.

The server will use custom maps determined by a system that is... yet to be determined

Well in r/s, that I normally play, I HAVE FOUND NO FLAWS WHATSOEVER for the 1 year I have been playing it. I think weapon balance is PERFECT and cant get any better.

I just hope I get my adsl2+ connection before then.

And if the players there will like it, you will change the balance yet AGAIN?...

The only one I can think of is the barrett delay being a little too long, considering it has so much bink and movement inaccuracies. (on the experimental balance, that is.)

you mean the balance in soldat? not necessarily.  This would simply be a server where everyone can contribute to the balance instead of having to tweak the actual soldat balance

the vast majority of soldat players are content with the Soldat balance right now.  There are no plans to change it

The vast majority also uses the overpowered weapons and do not wish to become worse.

Well, the vast majority of Soldat players will have to deal with it, if the weapons find a better balance.

the majority that are happy with it are those who like the over powered M79s. I know, that is whining, but somebodys gotta do it. That is the only flaw that I find in the weapons balance. But I do agree with MofoNofo, the socom is just a tid bit underpowered.
Just another soul to burn.

there's no point in asking if there will ever be the same changes made to the actual Soldat balance, because we don't know yet.  I'll give you a solid "maybe"

The M79's attributes as far as the weapons.ini goes are pretty much fine as is. The real problems -- kamikaze kills that don't selfkill and launch area kills with no contact -- would have to be addressed in the game itself. Same as the delay and bink workarounds.
