Poetry Corner - All are welcome
« on: September 09, 2007, 04:02:23 pm »
This is a topic for those who have written poetry or just want a chance to read interesting works of art provided by the forum-users. Take this post as a way of letting go of your emotions and sharing with us your insights of the world around you.

I'll begin with a recent poem I wrote entitled "Raining Today". The poem speaks of how the sky is blue and clear without a drop of rain in sight, yet it's still raining...I took the idea to write this poem from Staind's song "Epiphany" which talks about depression and how it's always "raining inside my head."

Enjoy.

"society doesn't understand me."

isn't that what most poems are about today?

O!

The day is donel the stars are bright;
The leaves are still; the moon is bright!
Laugh at woe and laugh at foe,
Menoa's scion now is safe this night!

A forest child we lost to strife;
A sylvan daughter caught by life!
Freed of fear and freed of flame,
She tore a Rider from the shadows rife!

Again the dragons rise on wing,
And we avenge their suffering!
Strong of blade and strong of arm,
The time is ripe for us to kill a king!

O!

The wind is soft; the river deep;
The trees are tall; the birds do sleep!
Laugh at woe and laugh at foe,
The hour has arrived for joy to reap!

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

You must sleep before you awaken
even dreams is only a reaction to something passed by

You'll wake up one morning, one morning you won't
Don't live to fear, but instead live out that fear

Some die to live, some live to die
Decide your path and stick to it and accept it,
only then will you really be ready for either

A blind man was smoking his pipe
And a man came along and tripped over his cane and said it was a load of tripe
The blind man whacked him in the balls
The injured man waddled off to the mall
The blind man said, "Happy now, ass-wipe?"

Sand

How can you be so near yet so far
Loving you is like catching a falling star

By you forever I stand
As you slip past me like grains of sand

As time goes on
I still can't call you my own

I cannot bear to leave your side
Yet my love I still hide

O God why must I have this curse
As my love grows, my fears get worse

To be near you is both pleasure and pain
And to loose you is both a great loss and great gain

Poetry.com published this and another (or two) poem(s) I wrote. I used to think poetry was cool now I can't stand it.... anyway its not like I need to hide the fact I wrote it.
