increase gravity
« on: September 10, 2007, 01:49:58 pm »
Well, the soldiers fall down really slow..
It reduces the gamespeed a lot, and because I like soldat to be a fast game, I would like to see the soldiers fall some faster. (just a bit)

Might need to increase the jetpower to have a nice realistic mode game.

Agree with you a bit. In realistic mod - why not?

If the Soldaten fell faster in realistic mode, they would take EXTREME damage. Realistic shouldn't be TOO realistic, if you get what I'm saying.

As far as I know, it is hard to change the falling speed, something about MM's script is weird or somat. I think it is fine, overcomplication=bad.

Maybe allow the ability to change gravity? Heh...

My point exacly. But overall gravity should be a bit stronger by default.

Still, it would be cool to be able to change the gravity with some parameters.

Wait if we increased the gravity then we couldn't bunny hop really fast. It would slow down gamespeed. :o

Exactly. It would entirely throw off every single old player who's used to it being the same for the entire game. A lot of people, like me, know how and when to jump in more or less all of the popular maps like Run and Kampf to do certain things. Changing it just so new players can fall faster because they don't know how to maneuver doesn't sound very appealing.

It seems that you're falling slowly just because it's like you watch your soldier from nearly 50m. The elements in the game are tiny and one screen is 50-60 m. Imagine falling from 50m and reaching the ground for 3 seconds. WOW!

It's just weird that going up goes faster than going down...

The weapon balances change every version as well. So you'll need to train your aiming again as well.
And making a game better is always good.

But, PQ, is it really better? I don't think so, the game is already pretty fast as far as shooters go. I think it's fine, it would take a lot of time to make it balanced and stuff (falling faster would make some guns harder to aim/hit people) and probably hard to code. And a lot of people wouldn't like it. And I don't think changing the very physics of a game is a good idea for some reason.

I think we should be able  to change that setting. Then we could have a real CS-like subgame mode or something. Now you're all gonna say taht soldat shouldn't be too realistic and all, but the game will be better if there are more modding settings to change. More mod options=more mods=more people playing=more $$$

That I agree with, some cool climb options and stuff. I do like that.

I dont think its possible but i was thinking earlier about faster falling :P but not increasing gravity but being able to like flip upside down and jet your way towards the ground :D That would be a lot simpler than increasing gravity though and would give us like 2-3 new maneuvers to master.

probably the gravity is coded in the engine and therefore is quite troublesome to change anything to put the gravity outside the engine and place it in the game rules. allthough I don't know where it is placed in the code.
