People who can't swim.

Do you think it should be mandatory for children to be taught to swim in school? 

Also....if you can't swim, why do you panic when you're in the water?

Why the hell should it be mandatory?  That makes no sense at all. 

People panic in water when they cant swim because they dont wish to lose their lives.  No one wants to drown to death.

because they could drown. Or they think they could. i would float out and save them because i can.

Nope, it shouldn't be. Though it's nice to know how to swim. Besides, almost everyone has been to a pool, it's really not that hard to learn to swing yo legs and hands or scream for a life-guard...
Not to mention I can't swim fast but well thanks to ma gigantic 28cm feet @_@

yeah you should know how to swim. its a basic skill you should know.\

This is coming from a person who lives an hour drive away from the ocean.

Welcome to the middle of the ocean, not too many lifeguards out here, but people can still swim.

Well... If it's not a life-guard who would save you, then it would be the local shark.
If you get panicked and in the middle of an ocean, start thinking about Soldat and you'll get ashore within minutes XD

Hot damn! Anyone want me to draw a chart to help out in getting out of the rip tide? My dad drew use a chart every year and I know the entire speach... Although I can't do it without laughing...

Anyway I love swimming, though I stopped swimming in my pond due to the nasty weeds that like to screw up feet on the banks. I only get to swim about once a year though.

When I was younger, I practically grew up in the pool.

Before last year, I didn't swim for almost two years and I swam better then more people in my class.

I think it could be beneficial.  Not saying it should be implemented.

Not only are you teaching kids an important skill (I don't care what anyone says, it's very important and shouldn't be overlooked- never know when you might end up in some deep water), but it's great physical exercise.  Cardio and a lot more.

I've had 5 years of competitive swimming, coached by real swimmers. And I've seen how schools teach swimming...

... You probably won't learn much from the school. And it's very unlikely you'll learn how to save someone else who's drowning.
