9/11: Where were you?
« on: September 11, 2007, 08:18:34 pm »
I figure there should be some sort of 9/11 remembrance that doesn't evolve into a spat over politics, so simply talk about where you were on the morning of September 11th, 2001.

I got woken up by a phone call; apparently my dad was supposed to be on a plane flying to New York and a friend was checking if he was alright.

I'm not American, so I don't feel as badly about it.  Still sucks though.

I remember the day it happened, my mom took me upstairs and told me there might be a war. :o

i was in second grade, since i live in an NYC suburb, there was widespread panic. kids were getting called out of school. I still commend my teacher's ability to keep her composure.

I was in the middle school and my teachers were freaking out.........but.......One of my friends was late for school that day and walked into his 2nd period class late while they were watching the news.  Any way he looks up at the TV and see's the 2 buildings smoking and people screaming and all that and he says "Cool man, what movie are we watching?" lmao thats fucking great.

I was in my class room watching this boring PBS show for the first half hour of class (It was in fifth grade), and the teacher calmly walked up and changed the channel. She was a substitute, and I wondered what she was doing. Right there, I saw the second crash. I wasn't very smart back then, but I did know an explosion when I saw it. I didn't quite realize the immense ramifications of the explosion until a couple of years later.

I was in second grade and when I woke up my mom was like turn to the news quick your father called. So I did and I saw the twin towers. I watched a movie on it today and it is just the saddest thing ever.

I was playing Megaman 7 on the computer and my mom was trying to tell me and my brother (he was watching) what was going on, mut I didn't really know what she was talking about and kept playing, so she got mad.

I was either watching TV before going to school or walking to school. I found out what happened that night when my dad picked me up from after-school activities.
I then got somewhat annoyed that all the broadcast TV networks would only show non-stop news coverage for about 3 days.

I lived about 3 hours away from NYC.

Got home from school and both my parents were watching the news (they usually are working). I just saw a tower, didn't really understand or care. So I walked to the kitchen and while my back was turned the second plane hit the WTC with camera focused on the building.

I live a few blocks away from where our resounding president was reading to schoolchildren during the event.

There was also a subsequent bomb threat at our county's mall, and was evacuated (my mom works there). It was a very sobering experience, although when I look back at it now it pales in comparison to the military fiasco we've created because of it.
