How the fuck do you...Oh right, in normal. I mostly play R/S so I have to use sound. I don't know why you wouldn't, though.

Can't play competitively while music is going on in the background. If I'm just screwing around and killing zombies though, I have Winamp playing in the background.

Ye, I've noticed that I'm actually better when the sound is off.
Dunno why @_@ So I must be on the alert all the time and look behind me often.
But then I play Winamp or something in the background.

I always have sound completely disabled in the Soldat setup, I like to either play in complete silence or occasionally with music (foobar2000 / rhythmbox in background). Every once in a while I'll enable the sounds so I can checkout an interesting mod's sounds. Thats pretty much it.

Finally, someone uses the sound like I do... I can hear people jetting or respawning near me in a DM, which is a huge advantage.

I definately play with sound with music playing softly in the background. My gameplay is improved a lot with sound.
