My Half-Life 2 mod.
« on: September 13, 2007, 12:13:32 pm »
This is my first mod, and i have to say, i'm proud of it.

The mod is based on Half-Life 2.

Here are the interface graphics.

I would consider this still a work in progress. The USP Match and OSIPR  graphics seem to be based on the original Soldat weapon outlines. This is a big no-no for me.
Shading is pretty interesting, though. Did you shrink down images you found of the weapons for some of them?

Hrmm...Just about all the weapons need more noticeable shading. And, this isn't a big thing, but why is every part of the crowbar covered in blood EXCEPT that part you'd hit them with?
I attend grammar school, last grade, and ignorance is all around me. Well, good for them. Ignorance is bliss.

I think it's painted like that or it has rubber isolation.

*If you mean that it looks like blood 'cause of not all red it can be "using defect"

No offense, but they look like lego guns. I like the idea of a decent HL2 mod though.

1. I'm still working on it and updating it.
2.None of the weapons shapes are based on the originals. I erased the old weapon and entirely drew a new one.
3.Shrink images? nah...read the above...
4.It's not blood. The crowbar is painted red in the middle, with some of it peeling off at places.
5.Yea the guns might need a fixing.

PS: The weapons.ini, included with the DL, is the best way to play the mod.
If you replace it with the original, some of the weapons will sound weird.
Example:minigun.

It's not bad for a first mod though even if they do look like lego.

Holy shit, i discovered a little thing...quite a big thing actually.
Is there an Interface.gfx included in the download?
I can't find mine anymore for some reason, so i might have to redo the interface :-\.

And the zombie gostek: is that pic taken in a DM gamemode?

If they are from a team match, how did you change your gosteks colour to not be red, blue or of any other teams colours?

Yeah they weren't in the download so I made my own (yes a shrink job), you can use them in the mod if you want.

Pretty good work Kevin, but I have to say some of the weapons are mismatched in size, the magnum looks really small compared to the USP's and the crossbow doesn't look much like the one in HL..

Oh and next time you post a screenshot, if you have photoshop or gimp then convert it to a high quality jpeg first, saves a hell of a lot of filesize

Yea, and the magnum looks ridiculously big ingame.

Serial Killer: Whoa, that one is a lot better than the one i made, so i might use it.
You get full credit for design.:P
Those are pretty damn accurate.
Did you check images of the real things and use your imagination?

Anyway, on to the point:

1.It looks good, but the OSIPR (Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle) looks nothing like the one in HL2. It looks more like a G36 with a bullbup(?) style magazine.

2.The H&K MP7 has a small laser sight on it.
Check the weapons.Gfx.

3.The Tau Cannon is the prototype version from HL1. The one in my mod is the finished version, from the mounted buggy. I don't blame you, if you haven't played the game, but just so that you would know. ::)

4.The 357.Magnum is a bit short.

5.The Singularity cannon and minigun are organical weapons, surgically removed from a strider.
I don't exactly know, what the minigun looks like, so i had to imagine the looks and stuff, based on what i've seen so far.
As for the Singularity Cannon, it's supposed to be an organical sack with a long barrel, that generates plasma.

6.The crossbow you made is the tranquilizer bow(crossbow) from Half-Life1 .
The one used in this mod is the HL2 version, that has a battery at the bottom,  to heat the bolts it shoots, and it's manually reloaded.

7.The reason there is a Minimi in this mod, and not in the actual game, is that i didn't have any idea, what to turn it into.
But it somehow fits in, so very good job on that.

8.There is nothing else i can say about the rest of the weapons, except for Congratulations! You did a mighty fine job on the interface.

PS: I noticed, that white outlines and no color is your style?

looks like he used the OICW for the OSIPR, singularity cannon looks like the MR-C prototype.

They are a shrink job, he said. That means, he got the images from the game and shrunk them down.

Yeah from a font file actualy that has the weapons and other icons.
That's why I missed for the OSIPR that gun was also in the file that reminded me of an OICW

Fixed image for the OSIPR:

There was no USP in HL2. It was a 9mm Pistol (unknown, people say its a Glock based thing)
@Serial Killer, i ripped all the interface guns from Half-Life when i was creating my mod.
Fix and disable this "C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE" It's a harmful trojan.

you can clearly see the resemblance..
