Pink Floyd
« on: September 16, 2007, 08:34:27 am »
It seems that not that many people like Pink Floyd. Everyone at my school either hasn't heard of Pink Floyd, or hates it. What's the deal? Pink Floyd is the most talented group of people I have ever listened to. I just bought Animals, and it is awesome, and it's just as good IMO, as Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall.

So, how many of you like Pink Floyd, and if you do, what is your favorite album?

My brother has at least one of their albums, but I'm not normally into that kind of music.

OMFG man i now love you lol.  Animals is one of their most under rated albums (along with a host of others including " Meddle" "A Saucer Full of Secrets" "Obscured by Clouds" and my all time favorite "Atom Heart Mother").  Pink Floyd, IMO, is the greatest thing that ever happened to music.  If you are new to floyd and like them there are a few songs that every fan should listen to and they include......

Atom Heart Mother (the song not the album)
Echoes
Learning to fly
Dogs (fucking greatest guitar lead ever in this song)
Jugband Blues
Fearless
High Hopes (such a sad song.....this song is from 1994 and Roger Waters had nothing to do with it.  Sad story for another time)
Let there be More Light
Pigs
Stay
and the entire "The Final Cut" album
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
Ill see you on the dark side of the moon

Ah, SirJamesaford, I knew you would respond. Dogs is incredible, but I like the solo in Time better. I've been listening for Pink Floyd for a long time, and Animals is better than a lot of what I already have. I was thinking about getting Meddle, but it was more expensive. They didn't have the greatest selection at the record store I went to. They had Animals, The Wall, and Meddle. Animals was the cheapest, and I've heard really good things about it. I'm planning to get Wish YOu Were Here, Meddle, Saucerful of Secrets, and The Final Cut, and Atom Heart Mother.

Meddle is a great album but only because of "Echoes".  Without that it would have been ok.  Wish you were here.....i cannot listen to that album (except for the song "Have a Cigar") for reasons im not going into....but it is great.  Not alot of people like "The Final Cut" but i happen to think its one of thier better albums.  Atom Heart Mother and Saucer full is a must for any one wanting to "explore the floyd" lol

Love them, my favorite band.
One of the bands whose albums I've actually bought.
I have 6 or 7.
Go Meddle.
Dark Side is a very close second.

So many fans would disagree if you asked them. The album is widely considered a classic.

Well, I disagree. That's my opinion and paintsville isn't convincing me otherwise.
