Thats cool...I mean i dont hate it I just think its over played because of "Another brick in the wall part 2". I love the "Live in Berlin" version of the wall...they really did the best version of that album there...awesome stuff.  Have ya heard Atom Heart Mother though?

EDIT: "Live at berlin" was the wrong one....i meant "Is there anybody out there....The wall live 1980 -1981"

I find Pink Floyd insanely boring. They don't ever have any type of powerful guitar playing skills or anything that catches my attention. It just feels like boring elevator music. The music has no life, and I find the lyrics don't make sense at all. I don't understand what makes them so great, they are so slow and dull its ridiculous.

Lyrics not making sense? Hmmmm....That may be due to the fact that their first writer was a schizophrenic on acid lol...their second liked to tell stories through entire albums.  So if you pick track 7 and start to read lyrics it would be out of context since you missed the first 6 parts.

Powerful guitar skills you want?  "Dogs" has the best lead I have ever heard but you probably wont like it.

You say the music has no life?!  What music are you listening to that has life?  If pink floyds music has no life then the world as we know it is completely dead.

1) How many albums/songs have you heard?  Hearing the same radio tracks might give that impression.
2) Does music have to be fast to be good?
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

Yes thats true.  I think that their most popular songs are almost always their worst ones.  Listen to "The Gunners Dream"....now thats a song that can make a grown man cry lol

I seem to remember that mancer once stated that NOFX was one of his favourite bands. (may be wrong) If this is true though, I would like to disqualify mancer from this discussion. Anyone with me?

I remember when my dad bought The Dark Side of the Moon CD few years ago, and DEAR LORD WAS IT CRAP?

Nowadays I listen to whole TDSotM 12" at least 2 times a week, I just get this feeling like my soul would disengage my body, like getting orgasm after orgasm and, and... Ah, I think some of you know what I'm talking about. Masterpiece, like The Wall, Animals and Wish You Were Here, but not as great.

I downloaded an entire album from Oink.cd (torrents) and listened to a few of the songs. They are all very dull and I cant exactly get into them. It sounds like an unoriginal acoustic track with some slow melodic jazz-like guitar playing for the majority of the songs I listened to. Also some are painfully long.

First of all, I would like to say that I said that back in 04', when I was a freshman in high school. Now I am a freshman in college and my music style has changed since then.

I still like NOFX. This doesn't mean you can be an arrogant ****rag and 'exclude me' from a discussion because of the music I listen to. I happen to like something from each genre of music (except maybe jpop, bluck) Which includes this list I am getting from my iTunes:

Acid Punk
Alternative & Punk
Alternative Rock
Black Metal
Classic Rock
Blues
Bluegrass
Country
Psychobilly
Rockabilly
Punk Rock
Metal
Cabaret Punk
Techno
80's Rock
Surf
Dance
Emo/Rock
Emo
Comedy
Club
Folk
Folk Punk
Game
Hard Rock
Hardcore
Hip-Hop
Rap
Horror Punk
Indie
House
Industrial
Instrumental Rock
Classical Music
Irish Punk
Jam
Opera
Mosh
Pop
Parody
Progressive Metal
Rock
1st Wave Ska
2nd Wave Ska
3rd Wave Ska
Ska Punk

And I could kindly list off 5-10 bands from each sub-genre of music out of the 8083 total songs I have.

So please, think before you post chauvinistic bull**** from your music elitist mindset. Asshole.

Fair enough.

Although I still fell that it's apparent that you haven't listened enough to Pink Floyd to make such a bold statement. (this probably also goes for what I said about NOFX)

"They don't ever have any type of powerful guitar playing skills (...)"

Come on... David Gilmour is widely considered to be among the 5 best electrical guitarists in the world. There is no logic what so ever in saying that he doesn't have "powerful guitar playing skills"

What I meant by that is there isnt enough of profound guitar work for me to stay interested in the chosen pink floyd song I am listening to. Im not insulting his skills or anything, its just I need something to keep me interested rather than mellow, standard playing.

Iron Maiden > NOFX > Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd's songs are way too boring. I need something that keeps making me want to listen to it.

Dogmatic fans crazy about bands like Pink Floyd and The Beatles irritate me. They're not that good.

The coolest thing about Pink Floyd IMO is that they are totally different from anything else. They are like a genre of their own. And they sound totally different album to album. You can listen to Dark Side of the Moon, then The Wall, then Animals, and it's like you were listening to three different bands.

I find Pink Floyd insanely boring. They don't ever have any type of powerful guitar playing skills or anything that catches my attention. It just feels like boring elevator music. David Gilmour is one of the greatest guitar players of all time, as stated above. He doesn't play insanely fast shredding solos throughout the entire song because it would cover up the lyrics, which is the most important part of the songs. He does have awesome solos in songs like Comfortably Numb, Time, and Dogs, but he doesn't need to be in your face the entire time like in many other genres. And, does it have to be fast to be good?

The Wall is really cool, but it's definately not their best.

What the fuck. You can't compare Pink Floyd to Iron Maiden. Iron is a god damn metal band. Pink Floyd is a whole different music style. Same goes for NOFX. Their a punk band if I'm not mistaken.

Well the fact that I listed 1st Wave Ska, 2nd Wave Ska, Opera, ect obviously means no.

Smegma: I strongly reccomend you watch the live at pompeii DVD

One of the problems with Pink Floyd is that they have changed their stlye quite drastically. Eg, Pipers at the gate, Meddle, DSOTM, The Wall, Final Cut. Most people like only some parts of them, most only KNOW only some parts.
