Server help...
« on: September 23, 2007, 10:40:51 pm »
Hello.

I've been trying to run a dedicated soldat server since yesterday. Yes, I know about ports and how to forward them. The thing is, earlier today, when I started a server, it used my real IP, and not my local one, which is what's supposed to happen. People were able to join, and the lobby did not show my server's ping as 9999. I, however, did not have any ports forwarded at that time, odd. I do not know what I did to make it work. I don't think I changed anything, but when I started the server back up again, it failed to work.

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Goomba.

Please run this to test your port forwarding and paste the results here: http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=3722.0

Yeah, I've tried this many times.

OK. Please wait while we test your server configuration... (This may take up to 2 minutes)
Checking IP Address validity... PASS!

Step One: Ingame Connectivity Test
(?) Sending PING test to 70.56.151.163 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
(?) Sending REQUEST test to 70.56.151.163 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
(?) Sending JOIN GAME test to 70.56.151.163 on UDP Port 23073... FAILED!
Step Two: All-Seeing Eye Test
(?) Sending test to 70.56.151.163 on UDP Port 23196... PASS! (0ms)
Step Three: Remote Administration
(?) Sending test to 70.56.151.163 on TCP Port 23073... FAILED!
Step Four: Map Download Connections
(?) Sending test to 70.56.151.163 on TCP Port 23083... FAILED!

TEST RESULTS:
- Total Passed: 1/6
- UDP Check: error (Vital)
- ASE Check: check
- Admin Check: error
- Download Check: error (Vital)
- Final Test Result: FAILED! Please check your network configuration.

Thing is, the server is registered to 192.168.0.68. When I put that in, it says the following.

OK. Please wait while we test your server configuration... (This may take up to 2 minutes)
Checking IP Address validity... FAILED!

The IP Address you have entered is not your Internet IP!
Please do not use a LAN IP Address. You can get your Internet IP from http://whatismyip.com/

It does not matter what IP the server says its running as. It will always display your LAN IP if your not running it on a proper server hosting machine.

So I will never be able to run a server? The servers worked perfectly one time, I just need to remember how to get it back to that state.

Check your port forwarding, it's possible that your LAN IP changed if you haven't made it static. Make sure that a given port is only forwarded to 1 computer, you can't forward the same port to multiple computers.

It is interesting that you got 23196 forwarded properly.  That means that you're definitely capable of forwarding ports properly, you're just doing something else wrong right now

Yeah, I've constantly checked my port forwarding.

I have a question though. I have a selection of computers to forward to;

admin-enebzdcnz
192.168.0.67

Would someone kindly tell me which one I should select?
