Death Steps.
« on: July 11, 2006, 09:47:51 pm »
Ok,Yes I know the title is misleading.

Ok Ive thought about this for a while now and Ive been waiting for it to happen but it never has.

I think when you get low on health(like in your last quater) You're Soldat should either move slower or have to drag themselfs to move around(basicly proneing)
because to be a bit more realistic.....I mean have you ever seen some soldier on his last little bit of life jumping around backflipping and doing sick-ass kills with a chainsaw....I have but thats in alot of shit-assed movies.

And also server admins can have a thing in options to turn Death steps on or off.

Please Discuss how it could be better or show crap the idea is.

er... no. That would completely unbalance the game dynamic. It would be too easy to cripple your opponents, and once you do, they wouldn't have much chance of reaching a health pack, which is kinda silly.

It's been said so many times before. This game isn't about realism. It works well because it isn't realistic in many ways.

I have been thinking about something liek this for a while. I really like the idea.

Maybe when the players health goes down to 10% he dies within 10 seconds?

That'd get annoying too.

Maybe instead of nerfing the soldier's speed, you could make him a little less accurate (since he's half dead holding a gun).

Hmm, maybe if you slow down a tiny bit it would be ok, but not much or like vis said it would be very hard to get to a health pack, and Im a health whore so that would be bad for me.

Definately no. It would make escaping with low health too difficult. The game is not realistic and that's what makes it fun. Adding another realistic feature to the game would ruin its simplicity.

Maybe only on realistic servers, this would be ok.

maybe just less damage bulletts?
-25% damage.

because making speed slower is a little over the top, it would be impossible to run from bulletts and as well as getting a kill.

i think this is good as it is.

Making Soldat too realistic makes it boring and similar to every other game in the world

Lets not EVER mention CS in Soldat forums, really...
It might be slightly more realistic, but is it as fun as backflipping around with jetpack and being able to have hand-held grenade launchers or a rocket launcher as a SECONDARY! not a primary, a SECONDARY? I dont think so. The coolest gun CS has is AWP, and Soldat already has a Barret. CS has grenades? Yes. CS has dual desert eagles? No.

Making it slower isn't quite the answer. I would go with tweaking the accuracy, and maybe a more graphical bleeding or the occasional seizures :P

haha, for realistic that would be perfect - and i'm not just saying this b.c i want all the lame ideas that actaully are more realistic to go to realistic mode, but because it would fit there well!

this was suggested in the old forums, and it was kind of shot down there. i think one of the posts was something like "how else would some people win those 4v1 miracales with 30% or less"

and jbigz, whats wrong with referring to another game in here? wasnt soldat a little influenced from CS anyways, so why not talk about its "father"?

MM being the mother, by "giving birth" to soldat. CS and the other games are the fathers for giving the seed of the ideas to MM

There actually already is an animation for running hurt... I dunno, I don't like this idea much, could be interesting though.

This would be one of many instances where realism would kill the gameplay and fun. Apply what you're saying to Street Fighter -- you just end up with a game where first hit decides the winner pretty much with little to stop it. Welcome to Soldat: Minigun Edition.
