Everyone here is the same because everyone has the same sense of humor, except for FLAB, but he doesn't need to/want to fit in.

Well, I'm British... so I suppose that makes me a quirky European. Right?  :-*

(although technically the quirks of the British are actually just common sense!

Right hand on the steering wheel makes sense because more people are right handed, and we consider steering to be more important than gear changing in a life threatening scenario, hence why we drive on the left.

Oh yeah... that doesn't include the royal family... because they honestly deserve to die...)

If you swerve to avoid an accident, you're a fucking moron.

Oh I suppose it's a better idea just to pile right into the carnage is it?? It's quicker to swerve than to break, and breaks can cause you to lose control.

Also if you're on a motorway/highway if you break to avoid having an accident, chances are someone is going to crash into the back of you anyway.

Have you ever driven before? Maybe cars work differently over there, but from the New South Wales Road User Handbook:

Quote
In many situations braking may be the only possible response. Swerving is rarely appropriate and can result in a more severe crash, for example a head-on collision.

If you give yourself enough room (the handbook says 3 seconds in good conditions) there's plenty of time to brake.

Actually turning can help you quite a lot, if you swerve into the crash then you sustain less damage. just like backing up when a boxer gets punched in the face reduces the force on him.
