Quake III Arena is an old game but it is still not boring.  It's cheap, you can buy it at any Best Buy for $15.  Great single player game-play and many servers for multi-player, about 1000.  Graphics are pretty good and the game-play kicks.  I highly reconmend you try it out.

Why not just get Doom?
Because Doom is the worst game ever made. I'd rather go My Little Pony! Wait, there's another suggestion :)

oh god you are so stupid and i hope you die.
(unless you were being sarcastic..)

doom is the game that started every FPS-game made so far, not likin doom is BAD, verry BAD

"Eat sh!t and Die!"
To be honest, I was always more of a Duke Nukem fan..

The Settlers, oh yes. Rollercoaster Tycoon. Sim City 3000 Unlimited. The last one is a special candy, one of my favourite alltime games. I still play it, I got it when I was 8 and I STILL FUCKING LOVE IT.

Q3A is such an old game, at the time when it was released, dial-up was the main internet speed used.  Most of the servers for it now use DSL or Cable.  It'll work, but you'll probably just lag a bit.

When it comes to diablo, it can be played online and become massively multiplayer? or does it still remain singleplayer mode

The multiplayer in Diablo 2 is semi-MMO. You create an account and characters for a server, and then your character can make or join games in unlocked difficulty levels with up to 8 players. So, you can make a single player passworded game to go do some looting, then join up with some people for a quest.

I need to clear something, my friend claims i can get WoW and play it on dial up but then he says i'd have to get high speed eventually?

So that said, would that mean i could actually enjoy WoW on dial up or only bits of it until some big ass battle and my computer lags to fuck?

I wasn't kidding about SNES games. Try Secret of mana 2 and Seiken denetsu 3. Many many hours of great gameplay. I think I played trough those games like 5 times now. Never gets boring.

or you can join a server and level like mad... without talking to people and be like a loner in game and just pwn ass when they are about to die. Being the server hero is awesome.
